Best you can hope for now is to get onto a list for this winter but all the breeders have had full lists now for some time. You may find you have to wait for next winter. Demand this year is through the roof - we are weeding things out as much as possible. Email me privately - addresses are on the websites listed in my signature block.

@giza1 Who are you talking to Joanne, me? Because all of the wonderful breeders you're referring to are doing NOTHING to stop this woman except referring people who ask to other breeders. 3 rescues in less than a year, all with health and temperament problems. Excuse me for being incredibly bitter, but I couldn't save one of her dogs, spent a week going to the ER twice a day for IV antibiotics and needed surgery on my hand because she overbreeds, hasn't got a f**king clue and is irresponsible AND THE REST OF THE BCOC MEMBERS look the other way! There is one canadian basenji breeder I'll recomend, and she's in Vancouver. At this time last year, I spent my Christmas crying over a dog who was under quarantine order, waiting to be released by the County Health Department so I could have him euthanized. You want to talk about our "wonderful canadian breeders" you're part of the problem! They have zero heart and look the other way--as long as they're making money they don't give a sh*t!

I'm sorry for your loss. I did not mean to seem overly harsh, but I am glad you found the article eye-opening. I am very sad that you lost your boy so young. Please consider giving a homeless dog a second chance, or buy only from responsible breeders for a pup. it really is worth it. -Nicole

Yes, Arlene, you do need at some point to take a stand and trust what you see and what you like… Breeding comes down to that in the end.... And with a bitch that is only 1 1/2 yrs looking down from the top is not a very good judge... IMO... reason?... They are not mature yet... and they shouldn't be.... their ribs have not even "sprung" at this age.. again IMO.... I would be hard pushed to say a dog is "wider" in the front then the rear at this age by just looking down on them.... again IMO.... Here is a link to 3 pictures of Kobey, 6wks, 3 months and 5 1/2 months... everything I saw on this pup at 6 wks that I liked (and that is a bit early then the 8 wks usually used for evaluating pups) I still see... but there are differences while growing... Now granted this pup is one of the few that has yet to really fall apart with a growing spurt... And also the faults that I saw at 6wks are still there too..... www.tanzabasenjis.net/kobeygrowing.html
