martingales- only thing I can use that my boy wont slip out of…that, and if you are used to a choke, this is considered a choke with safety. I am not a fan of collars on all the time due to possible strangulation (i crate my boy)....so I feel the need to put a disclaimer that a martingale does have a "loop on the collar that may catch on something

After read these post i conclude the best harness is the leather ones. And i find 2 on her size. Still dont take to the street but looks secure and confort. [image: attachment_p_165068_0_laika-harness.jpg] [image: attachment_p_165068_1_maca-harness.jpg]

@Basenjimamma: Basil boy..I am trying to understand what type of harness you are talking about. I have or maybe had (lost two leashes at the dogpark a few weeks ago, when son thought it fitting to fish with one and loose it, fish the first one out with the second one and loose it too..! )..any way..I have/had a leash that had a big metal loop by the collar that you threaded the leash after wrapping it around the body of the dog, so in essence it was a leash that could be used as a harness..is that what you are talking about? I think so… but my sister has never used it as a leash and it's not one straight long rope it's two long parallel ropes when it's all undone... But maybe this would serve as the same thing?

I got one made for Ruby from Around the Hounds…it is absolutely gorgeous and really well made. http://www.aroundthehounds.com/c237431.2.html I sent measurements to them to double check on the size. They were really nice and helpful, it took about 3 weeks (they were out of town for a week) from the day I placed the order.

thanks for the ideas. I think the martingales are great training tools, but not suitable for everyday use (at least not for me). I may try the rolled leather if I can't find any wide/flat collars.
