    I think ideally you have a yard, but of course also take the dog for walks. Having to go out immediately when you get up can be a nuisance and every Basenji I have had will "go pee" in the backyard, although getting them to defecate can be a different matter. And rainy days can be a problem. Yes, you can keep a Basenji in an apartment, but bear in mind if you have an issue with separation anxiety your neighbours may not be happy when you go out!

    I agree, bribing is good. Over the years I have developed a personal relationship with my vets and their staff. Office manager is on my facebook (rare if you know me because I have under 90 friends … mostly family, close friends and their kids and friends of my daughter. I keep it limited to provide those kids the most protection and to keep it personal). I never worry about the care my dogs get anyway, but I know the gifts I bring at Christmas to the staff and occasional treats lets them know they are appreciated.

    LOL, my husband got me a magnet with a basenji with a remote in it's mouth. Very cute! But ouch, that pup needs a nail trimming!

    @thunderbird8588: At least she seems to have learned, lets hope she generalises it to other cables. Somehow i dont think so:) Benji used to love being blown with the hair dryer on hot. When i had the hoover out he used to get under my feet, i think because of the noise he assumed it would provide the same enjoyment as the hairdryer. I put the nozzle on him, not realising the suction was so strong. He wasn't amused and went into attack mode :) Our Benji LOVES the dyson. We have to take the nozzle over him every time we use it otherwise he goes in a huff! :)

    @wizard: I dream of being able to have a pack of basenjis :rolleyes: Well, me too. But, as Darren can just barely handle having two in the house {much as he loves them}, I think it'd be a "me or the dogs" situation, and as I am a stay-at-home mom….... well, yeah, I kind of need him to provide the home and the food, and actually, the dogs. LOL So, two works out just fine. :D {but I'd still really love to have a brindle; no -- two brindles. I'd like a beautiful dark brindle, but I also really like the light r/w ones. :) Ahhh, such is life; and dreams are fun to hold on to}

    There's no animal so resourceful as a hungry basenji. They were slighted you know for centuries being last in line at the cooking pot.
