Scarlet is a cutie whatever she is! If you have a real interest in learning what she is, I would recomment wisdompanel.com - there you will find a site that will send you swabs for her cheeks, then will later on send you a report showing everything that is in her, and how much of each - it goes back five generations and the reports are wonderful. I know I sound like a commercial, but we sent off to find out what our Gemma was mixed with, and found she is basenji all the way on one side, and sheltie on the other, with a little collie thrown in three generations back. Because the reports send along information about what the breeds personalities are, it's really easy now to see when Gemma is being sheltie-ish and when she's being basenji, which is mainly when she's interacting with her PB sister. Good luck with Scarlet, and welcome! I think you can also pick up the DNA kits from wisdompanel at PetSmart, or so someone told me.
NOUNO the Basenji

Hi my name is Nouno and I am a 6 month basenji and I live in sunny Cyprus. My owners are George and his father Mike. I love playing, sleeping and chasing anything. I am a bit naughty sometimes but I am smart and I love to outsmart everybody. Cheers

Hi guys and thank you for your replies! I am trying to upload some pictures but apparently the size is to large. Do you have any suggestions?

This is from last week. However I am trying to get a good quality picture to upload but I cannot:p

Very cute, welcome. Were his parents (or him) DNA tested for Fanconi?
-
His parents are also in Cyprus. His mother is 4 years old. Did not have any problems. His father is 2 years old and also did not have any problems. Not yet. Is too expensive as I have to send all the test to the USA. But I will get through with it as long as I am able to.

Just be aware Fanconi can show up at different ages, please if you haven't already researched the disease take the time to as it is a horrible one and there is help out there for affected dogs improving their quality of life.

Fanconi, if found and care taken early, can be annoying but your dog's health maintained for a good life. If not found until damage, it is utterly devastating. Ask if the parents were tested. If they were tested and one can show you a clear, then your dog is probably okay. If not, testing is critical.
I love the reds. Congrats on your new family member!

I mostly agree, however, not all Basenjis do well with the treatment, so depends on the Basenji as to how it will effect the quality of life

Age that Fanconi can show up is from usually 3 years all the way till over 10 years
