Doggie backpacks

    Hello all. I recently purchased a doggie back pack and can't seem to get it to fit. It looks kind of big (medium size) supposed to be good for dogs 18+lbs. Our B is 19-20lbs. Anyway the strands hang at the bottom..it just dosent' look like it fits. So I wanted to know if any oneelse has used the pack

    We use a backpack for our B…which kind did you get?? Not sure what you mean by big?? It should not take up his whole body but should sit comfortably on the upper part of his back.

    The one we have there's 2 straps that go across his belly & a Y shape strap around his neck...it took us a little while to figure out how it fit. We actually had the neck strap around his bottom...it looked weird LOL :D :D :D :eek: We eventually figured it out. And YES I am a college grad LOL!!

    I got the outward hound back pack. Well it covers his whole body. O.k guess I should get the small. Well i also dodn't criss cross it but still maybe I should return it for a smaller size. It said that the small fit dogs up to 18lbs and champ is 20

    Don't feel bad…I took a look at the gentle leed at the pet store and couldn't figure out how to put it on. Hehehehe! :o

    Yeah and it's not like my B is helpful. He's looking at me like what now mommy first the coat and booties and now this…how are the boys at the park gonna take me seriously..lol

    It depends on the dog and your situation. I have never and will never allow my dogs to be outside when no one is home. A concrete fence would probably solve most of my issues (snakes, tree limb breaking fence, neighbor kids harassing or even poisoning). I'm almost 60, have had exactly zero dogs who loved being in their crate (except my first rottie who wanted it for sleeping in, gate open.. she didn't NEED a crate from the time she was about 6 mos old). But if you give them good quality toys and chews, dogs generally chill out. They sleep up to 18 hrs a day so I consider a crate a good safe haven. My basenji is fine left in my bedroom now that she's grown. My 2nd basenji didn't destroy things, she'd pee on my bed.. so she got crated. My first was incredibly dog aggressive, so the rotties and chow ran free, she was crated when I was out, slept with me at night (as did/do the other 2).

    Thanks Sinbaje. That's an impressive group of dogs you have. I'll keep your message for further reference. In researching basenjis, I come across a number of abbreviations. I'm the curious type and I just like knowing. :)

    @TuckerVA: There is a Mexican Hairless in my neighborhood and he's got a -40F coat. It also has a knitted neck that comes up to the ears almost. Not sure what brand/type it is, but I can check if anyone is interested… It just doesn't get that cold here in Va, at least not in the 10 years I've been here. I think it rarely gets below the high teens here. I would be interested in that

They have a local section where someone in Charlotte might have posted a review on one of these daycares or on another one I haven't listed. Hope this helps.
