I only baroo for you!

Basenji Talk
  • Just curious if anyone else has a B that only baroo's for a certain person. Sonny will be 4 this month and he only baroo's, yodels and barks for my Mom. Every day we stop by their house on our evening walk and he runs through the house looking for her..the minute he finds her he starts singing & barooing until she pets and plays with him :p He has never made a peep for me

  • Mine only baroos (I think like a total of three times) if he finds himself alone and can't see the other dogs in the house. I WISH he would baroo for me - but he's kind of a mute!

  • :( Tahat is so sad. Sayblee used to baroo a lot, but when my husband came home she ALWAYS barooed for him. I could be gone longer, and she wiggled and was ecstatic to see me, but I sure couldn't count on a baroo. :(

LOL maybe you can click & treat the barooing for your mom and teach her to do it on command?

Nothing cuter than baby baroos. If you can get him right as he is about to do it you might be able to give it a command. I was able to train both Ruby and Brando to give it on command for their dinner. It is pretty funny because Brando's baroo is so completely different than Ruby's …hers is so melodic, and his is so deep and masculine.

We are also finding that Kipawa baroos when he sees us after we have been out of the home. I think he is trying to tell us something like "how dare you leave me".

I have to agree with Andrea, it scared the crap out of us too. Mick is not a vocal boy but when he does Baroo I wish he would do it again. It's so sweet.

@sharronhurlbut: My boy freezes in his tracks when she does it to him! Always makes me laugh. Hahaha… that sounds like Charlie when Zaire hits him. He stopped being terrified of her noisesso now she has tried whining, screaming, and one quick bark at him. He never backs down now, untill she starts smacking him on the nose. then he doesn't know what to do and just lays down. :D
