Mowgli (Update)

Basenji Talk
  • Hi everyone. Thank you for your kind messages. I just wanted to update everyone; as of Saturday, September 12, Mowgli went to live with Rebecca and Keith of America's Basenji Rescue in Indianapolis, IN.

They are so loving to all their animals and do a good job finding them loving homes. Mowgli was taken out of a very scary, very detrimental environment and now will be in a loving rescue until he'll find his forever home.

  • Thank you for the update so very happy Mowgli is in a safe and good place. Wish things had been better for the three of you but life is not what we always want. You did the right thing thank you.

  • Good to hear that Mowgli is OK and that your life is back to normal again.

  • Good news, thanks for the update. Lets hope he finds a great forever home soon.

  • Good job pulling him from a very bad place, and fostering him till he could find a better arrangement! Now, back to normal!

@tanza: You are correct, accidents happen even with responsible breeders, but that doesn't mean that health testing of those pups should be any different than a pure bred litter. Mix breeds can have eye problems just as much as pure breds. That is correct, those mixed pups got the exact same treatment as our purebloods, and the buyers, got the complete Basenji handbook that I had put together years and years ago. And you are correct any dog, pure or mixed, needs to be vetted yearly.

Cody is doing very well. I hope that you both will be happy in your new home and that you find another equally good trainer.

@lvoss: Have you been counting days since she went in? Also, Walmart has $4 fleece throw blankets that you can use on your furniture for her to lay on as a compromise to britches. If you are really lucky you may be able to find them at Big Lots for as low as $2.50 I'd second what lvoss says about fleece - my pup is in heat as well although we're 10 days further in (Liyah started on the 8th) than you are :D. I found a bolt of fleece in Walmart's remnants section this week - cut 3 throws from it - actually thicker than the pre-made throws. The bolt cost 2.84 - quite a deal!

My husband is in the Navy and is gone a lot. My fur babies really keep me company and I think they look forward to when he is gone so they can reclaim 3/4 of my bed! :D I miss my husband when he is gone but the kids really keep me company. Takes care of the lonliness doesn't it? Jenn
