Annandael Update…

Basenji Talk
  • Sorry you guys it's been forever since I've been on here!

Here's the Annandael update for ya:

Kiya is going in for her health tests next month (thyroid and hips)
Both Kiya and Lance got their eye certifications from CERF! Yay!

Kiya broke off most of one canine and had to have it surgically removed.. ouchies…as canines root deeper than the other teeth.

Lance found a prairie dog and tried to kill it. That gave us all a scare...prairie dogs carry the plague! He's fine though hehe.

So, other than that we're doing great...just chilling out on a lazy Saturday afternoon.

Sounds great… and glad that Kiya is ok with the extraction and Lance "didn't" get the prairie dog!!!

  • Nice to hear from you again! It sounds like they are keeping you busy! Glad to know all is okay…

Spencer started squatting after he was neutured and never went back. The only place he will lift a leg is when we walk past a stop sign. I figure that's his peemail site and he's leaving his regards to the other dogs. :) Glad to hear Kipawa has recovered!

@tanza: You are correct, accidents happen even with responsible breeders, but that doesn't mean that health testing of those pups should be any different than a pure bred litter. Mix breeds can have eye problems just as much as pure breds. That is correct, those mixed pups got the exact same treatment as our purebloods, and the buyers, got the complete Basenji handbook that I had put together years and years ago. And you are correct any dog, pure or mixed, needs to be vetted yearly.

@Barklessdog: We got our dogs a little bed for the family room for christmas and I snapped a couple of pics of our Tri. The other dog came over and.. [image: basketcase.jpg] She heeded the warning and went away while I kept playing with him, no scuffle. A child is going to have know theses signs as well. This is how Tyler looks when he has settled in to sleep and Zoey wants to come in an "nest" before she settles. Zoey has learned to heed the warning also and doesn't disturb Ty when he's already settled.
