Go to www.basenji.org and you can search by state... however know that this time of your if you are looking for a pup it will be difficult because most all pups are born in Nov/Dec/Jan as Basenjis only come in season once a year and this is when most all pups are born. And you might have to travel further than those states. You might be looking at next breeding season, so now is the time to contact breeders about their breeding plans for 2020. And also don't get hung up on color or sex...

@helle-devi Thank you for responding. I have already been in touch with the basenji sisters. I was not aware before I contacted them that they are located in CA. I think the distance between us is too great. If things didn’t work out between my basenji and one of their girls, the distance would be a problem. I did become a member on the Facebook site that you recommended. Thank you so much! I was unaware that such a site existed. Jo Ann

@dmcarty: Understanding however that breeding carriers to clear is the option that allows to include the widest genetic diversity. Breeding only clear to clear reduces the diversity in the population - shade of what happend to the breed during some of the other health concerns like HA, PRA and Malabsorbtion. Hopefully we learned that throwing the baby out with the bath water is not the most effective way of keeping valuable traits while eliminating health concerns. +1…I could not agree with you more!

Monica, Another good place to start might be BCOSW. There is a pretty extensive breeder directory there, and if those breeders do not have puppy plans, they can probably direct you to others who do. You may need to wait to get the right puppy from the right breeder, but be patient. http://www.bcosw.org/ or on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/#!/bcosw?ref=ts Maybe you can come to our fun match in April and meet some of our members. Of course adoption is always a great option too. -Nicole
