My Basenji is too thin and doesn't eat enough.
The last Basenji I adopted is way too thin and seems like she is hungry all the time. I've started to hand feed her to get her to eat more. She has always been very thin but not a picky eater. I'm having her thyroid function checked and more blood work. The girl is a puppy mill dog from a pet store.
In addition, she seems mad all the time and pushy with the other dogs. She has no problem telling off my 100# Shep/Huskey. I can't believe how she gets in the big dog's face, ears back, snarling, and acting crazy. The old Shep just ignores her.
The poor girl spent the first 10 months of her life outside living in a shed and wasn't allowed inside. Since she has been here, she has become very selfish and jealous of the other dogs; especially when I have company. She wants all the attention!
I equate her hunger with her bad moods…that's how it seems to work with me, too. :p When I'm hungry, I'm a grouch.
