  • I look forward to meeting you both on Saturday, well done on your recent wins. My avatar is one of Sally's head shots of Kia!

  • @basi:

Oh could you send me the link please Steve, would love to see them:D

    Will do Jenny.

    Steve.

  • @JISGARD:

    Will do Jenny.

    Steve.

    Thanks ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  • @JISGARD:

Thanks Patty. I will send you a link to some other pictures so you can see some more of her. I have all sorts of old pictures etc. which you may find interesting and I will send link to these too. Are you a Windsor?

If anyone else is interested in pictures of Old Dog Shows in the 80's and Basenjis racing (Greyhound track), let me know and if I have an email for you I will send you a link. I am reticent to post them for general viewing as they still feature some people who are still in the breed.

    Steve

Ps. Forgive me if I call you Patty when we next meet!

I would love to have the link

    Hi Gerry,

Thanks, Sally is great if anyone wants shot of their dogs look no further.

We seem to be establishing a bit more of a power base down here in the South, maybe we can eventually move some of the clubs shows southwards like they were in my day, who knows!

Noooo no further south please  it's bad enough where they are for us northerners as it is lol

  • Houston

    She is so adorable.

Sorry to alarm you so! It's just some of the Club Shows used to be around the Maidenhead & Windsor area where many of us lived back then, but they have crept gradually northward as have many of the Champ. Shows.

It also not easy getting anywhere from down here on the South Coast and most journeys involve the London Orbital Car Park AKA the M25. I know there are a lot of you up there in North, so it is probably fair the way it is. It was just an Idea anyway.

    Steve.

  • Hi Steve

I'd like to see the pics etc. You can get my email from my website.

    See you Saturday.

    Vicki

    That's ok ๐Ÿ˜‰
I have a picture of me at a club show when I was about 5 or 6, so about 27 years or so ago and we stayed with Elspet in Windsor so would that have been when they were held further down?

  • This brings a few things back; BOBA at the TAVR Hall im Maidenhead, and at Holyport for the Christmas show; BCGB at Old Windsor.
There are quite a few people in South Central these days and while we don't expect to have club shows south of the Thames any more, venues like Roade while not further south are much easier for us than Brampton or Alconbury because we avoid the M25 on a Sunday evening.

The picture links should be with you, enjoy!

My little girl seem to be protesting at being shown two day running at the weekend and is not happy stacking at the moment, so I may be in for a rough ride. I have the option of taking her to a Match tonight but I think I will give it a miss.

    Good luck for the Show.

    Steve.

That certainly was the time when the shows were down in the Thames Valley. I judged the BOBA Christmas Open Show in 1985 and that was at the TA Hall in Maidenhead.

  • First Basenji's

That is a great picture, she's beautiful. Congratulations!

Those were the halcyon days, so much has changed now!

Yes indeed! Oh dear, I fear we are going to start sounding like Old Codgers.

  • @Borbasuk:

Yes indeed! Oh dear, I fear we are going to start sounding like Old Codgers.

"Old Codgers" the definition is of advanced years and seen as slightly eccentric or amusing, so I suppose it is very apt! I think the slightly eccentric is a prerequisite for Dog showing.

Some of us old codgers are not looking forward to getting up at 3.00 am tomorrow morning to drive up to Blackpool!

Thanks Robyn. You have a great web site and some lovely dogs.
