With her breeding dates - puppies could be born May 28th to June 2nd. (me I'm voting for June 3rd because it is one of my last days at school and I have a BIG meeting that day that I HAVE to be at.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the pictures of the babies. It's the first Grande I've seen 'in the flesh' (well next best any way).

For those of you who would like to - I do have a little poll of sorts going on on the website below - you can guess the date and the number of puppies. Winner gets to pick a registered name for a puppy (as long as it's not offensive or gross.)

of course this is even more complicated by my dog whelping help - my daughter - broke her leg on Friday. At my house even - geez.
So I think I'm on my own for this - whoopie!

Oh my Diana, there's certainly a bunch of little ones in there! Good luck and happy whelping. :) Can't wait to see what you get. Sorry to hear about your daughter, yikes!
I met up with Mary Dixon at the lure trial a couple weeks ago. She has wirehaired medios over here. What a hoot she is! lol We chatted about Hanna and had a good time talking about the similarities of our breeds.

wow, she even waddles, just like I did when I was 9 days out…poor thing. What an amazing feat though, to have the first litter in US...good for y'all and for Hanna. Let us know how things are going. Do you know how many pups to expect?

She still however can catch a bird on the fly - I don't know who was more suprised, me, Hanna or the dead black bird.

Staring at about midnight - Hanna started whelping the first Portugues Podengo Grande litter in the US. At noon she surprised me with a 'bonus puppy' so the grand total (unless she downloads another one) is 11.
9 boys and 2 girls. All look hale and hearty. Mom did such a good job I didn't even know she was having them
go to the whelping box to see some first pictures.
