  • My brags are little compared to the National, but they're big to us!

JR, Illusion's Jelani Rio, was WD, BOW and BOS Saturday at Burbank Kennel Club in CA - just one point, but he was very good!

His sister Queen, Illusion's Queen in Moonlight, was in Lubbock, TX this last weekend. She couldn't stand for her brother to outshine her, so she decided to take 2 three point majors there! Whoo-hoo!

We're very proud of our 10 month old fur-kids.

  • Yea, nice!

  • No need to feel your brags are ANY less than the nationals.

I love to hear all brags for these great dogs.

WAY TO GO. Congrats to you and your Furkids. :)

I've tried bait and no bait in the ring. I think bait works better for Logan, but not for me. He likes it and responds to it well, but as a new handler it's a pain in the butt. I know what I'm expected to do. Doing it once in the ring is hard. I get caught up in the minute and then forget what I'm supposed to do the next. I once stacked Logan backwards on the table. D'oh! Logan is SUPER food driven and he knows if I have cookies in my pocket. That's all he'll pay attention to. Jumping on the handler is frowned upon. Yes, I know training and time will cure it. Not there yet. Too many hobbies. Showing, breeding, MGBs, stereos, astronomy, motorcycles, family, friends, travel, house, etc. I need more time.

@cashh - Just curious, did you have your dog excused? Typically it is because of being lame in the ring or not letting the judge to exam the dog?

@eeeefarm said in Complete newbie to showing: ... I had a husky/shepherd crossbred that was the same way. Put a muddy dog in the barn at night, open the door to a perfectly clean one in the morning! What the...? Did they wipe themselves with a horse? :face_with_tears_of_joy:

Should be… I will not be showing at our Saturday Specialty, instead will be ring steward since our judge, Wanda Pooley is who I purchased my Franie from in the Spring...

@vstripe: How many basenji's are at specialty shows I have never been. I went to a small dog show in southern california and I think there were only 12 basenjis. My B and I had a nice time watching the show. We had over 60 Basenjis for our Specialty weekend.
