My dogs are secured in crates or the bedroom (Rotties were okay behind a gate, I'd never trust my basenjis with one) if the door is open. Every time, every single time, for my entire adult life. So yeah, dog bolts, the person failed to secure the dog. Unless some person enters if you don't know it, tree falls on house, burglar comes in, police raid your house by mistake etc… if YOU open a door, YOU are responsible, not the dog.
Texas girl needs home

Believe me, I know rescues are a risk - hard to tell what you're getting into. A year later, our Bongo is finally a mostly well-behaved boy (hey - he's a basenji, not a saint ) who still has some challenges, and we still don't know what health issues may be coming. (Next up - submitting swab test.)
Still, it's a heartwarming thing to take an abandoned pup and turn it into a well cared-for family member. I'd never exchange a day of our journey.
So, this girl needs a home - anyone in?
