Puppy Panties

Breeder Talk
  • I am looking for a few pair of comfortable puppy panties for Kiya. She will be going into heat in the next few months and I would like to introduce these to her now so she will become more comfortable in em. I went to the local pet store last night and found ones that were rather poor quality and not to mention ugly!
Does anyone know of any good ones???
    Thank you

  • Do you have a sewing machine? I just put some together with some fleece scraps I had

  • My agility instuctor sells them. I just purchased some for my girls so they can go to class while in season.

  • The best fitting ones I have ever seen are Bitch Britches. The are knitted and fit snuggly with no bunching or sagging.

    Lisa,
Could you bring a pair to the banquet this weekend. I'd love to see how they look.
    Thanks

  • Because I requested specific fabrics and she wanted to ensure the tail hole was in the right place and the right size so they could still feel comfortable, I will be picking them up next Thursday. I can take picture to post when I get them.

The tail hole has been my biggest issue with most of the commercially available ones. The placement isn't quite right and the girls then feel like they can not hold their tail correctly and then they chew them off.

We tried these on the girls and they didn't seem to mind them. They curled their tails as the normally do. Of course, I only forsee myself using them when we are at agility class so they won't have to wear them very long.

  • One can also use childrens underwear I took my son´s old undies (age 2-3) put them on then felt were the tail was and cut out a small hole if they are to loose then tie a small knot I used a hairband. On the inside I first tried an ordinary sanity pad she hated it went back to the store and saw pad´s for thongs and voila she accepted them. Now if I only could get the whimpering big brother to be quiet he can´t understand why he can´t mate his little sister oh well soon it´ll be over and life goes back to normal I hope;)

  • The following site has them at a reasonable price plus if you click on Color/Pattern choices at the bottom of the page, you can see exactly how to measure your girl to get the correct size: http://nu-nee.tripod.com/bb.htm

Whatever you decide to use try to remember that the likelihood they last more than a day is low unless you are incredibly vigilant. Personally, I gave up on the panties. The bleeding was never very much & Ella kept herself incredibly clean so I rarely saw or had blood spots to clean up. The worst were my sheets (yes, my spoiled B sleeps under the covers at my feet). I tried keeping panties on her but by morning they were shredded as well as sanitary napkin bits everywhere. It was cheaper just to change my sheets daily.

So, the fanconi is on each pups or on the parents or both? I was making some accouints about how much can expect to spent on a future litter.. well here on Mexico.. the people dosnt make hip, eyes or worst.. the fanconi.. but anyway the pups are sell for aprox 400 us.. but there is no explanation about the cost.. I think there is no need to put on the account the food of the parents, electricity and so .. because the parents food are responsible of the owner.. i dont expect that someone pay for the cost to me to have an basenji.. but well there are other cost that i see is ok to include.

@tanza: I offer a guarantee for life… I will always take back that puppy/adult if necessary. This is not to say that I will "refund" money, because I don't (however each situation is different, so I would never say never). But I will support any of my puppy owners and if I can will help support in the care of that puppy if a problem comes up. There is no breeder that can honestly guarantee that a puppy/dog will not come up with some problem some time in his or her lifetime, so I find and "guarantees" are pretty much a joke when people say you have a 1, 2, 3, whatever amount of time... as a responsible breeder you are in it for life. I offer a lifetime guarantee to take a puppy back. I meant that the guatantee is for 3 years that I will replace or refund a puppy. After the three years i will still take back a puppy at anytime i just wont give them a puppy or a refund. I would always support any puppy throughout its life and would never deny a puppy back into my life. I love dogs and no matter what i am responsible for the dogs that I would produce. I offer lifetime commitment to the owners and the puppies And I didnt realize this. I thought everyone was supposed to have a Guarantee. but i offer a replacement puppy for 3 years. (a partial refund might also be offered in certain instances. then I do not allow a replacement puppy but, like i said, id always take back a puppy.

Oooh, I see what you mean. I didn't look at the front facing pic. I had noticed the feet as well. But, you do have temperment, so at least that's one thing!

It's a step in the right direction. This is a lawmaking function that should be reserved to the states individually, according to the 10th Amendment anyway. Dogs are not livestock and are not going to be used for food. Therefore, USDA does not really have a stake in regulating them. USDA garners its power under the "Regulate Commerce" clause of the Constitution's Preamble, a section that was never intended to carry the weight of law. (See Federalists Paper #41.)

Also, as they are so cat like, folks don't understand their not "listening". So the corrections get harsher and harsher. Sigh. Education is the key for folks…until they do, we will have many dogs in the wrong homes.

Mollysmom-gosh I'm so sorry that your breeder just went MIA like that. It's tough when you first get these little furballs you could use all the guidance you can get. And usually they are very helpful. Hang in there & please come back here & post questions or concerns…there's lots of good info in this forum. Check out the health section so you can read up on some of the things basenjis are prone to. Since you (and your friend's B girl) don't have any background you won't have any idea what she me be predisposed to. It will help you out in the future to know the warning signs & symptoms of the various potential health problems. Good luck & I hope you post some pics of your little Molly :)
