I have just heard that DNA testing will resume on March 15, 2008. I have not heard yet if this will be the Linkage test again or if they have found the marker for the direct test.

Per Jon Curby who is closest to Dr Johnson at U of Mo, he has not heard if they have found the direct test… so I would image that is why they are still showing the linkage test to be used.....
While the direct test would be great.... thank goodness we have the linkage test... and I would encourage anyone that is concerned by the "unknown" of their Basenjis submit samples and have the DNA test done. -

how much does it cost and what is the website to get more info? I know Nike is most likely clean since both of his parents were, but MIa is still a so-so, her parents enevr produced an off spring with Fanconi, but he's only had 1 tested.

I believe it's $60/dog.

That is correct, plus the cost of the blood draw and sending the blood. It cost me 39 for the two.
Side question: Does anyone know when there will be updates to the site? it still doesn't say that they have the blood, but i have called and have been told that they have it.

They only update the site once or twice a month… so if they are telling you it is there, it should be fine. I would however check and make sure the it is recorded before you submit the paperwork and money for the test... but that is just me.

I know that you most likely told us, but who are Nike's sire and dam?

Nike's are the same as Dallas'. They were the litter by Midge Greenlee. The sire was Serengeti Hartland C Basi & the Dam was Joy-us Serengeti Camellia :) They reunited today actually!

And I remembered that they were from Midge, because that is the breeder of my OJ's Sire… all those many years ago, I just couldn't remember the name of Nike and Dallas sire and dam....

yes Mia was not impressed, you could tell she was thinkin "Ok you just brought this random puppy in my home last month don't tell me we're keeping this one too!" lol…
I do want to get Mia tested, her sire and dam was King Clyde Eastwind and Saadie East Bank. I could not find them on the site to see their results, but Tommy (the breeder from port Orange, FL) said he had never had a puppy with Fanconi. -

If you can't find them on the OFA site then they have not been DNA Tested… so a good idea to have her done. They are also not in Sally Wallis's pedigree database which says that they are most likely not AKC registered? Is Mia AKC registered?...

yes Mia is AKC and so are her parents

Bottom line, if they are not showing up in the OFA data base, then they have not been DNA test. Have you checked to see if Mia's grandparents are in the OFA database?

I don't know who her grandparents are, how would I find that out (website)? I have the registration #'s for both her parents.

I sent you a PM but if a dog is AKC registered you can always order a pedigree from the AKC online store.
