  • Thanks everyone..we'll definitely give a full report & I guess we'll have to figure out how to upload one of those video things here

Maybe some video experts here could help :)

  • Here is her seminar schedule for those hoping she comes to your area.

  • Wow! Looking forward to hearing all about it and of course, seeing your little celebrities with the famed trainer!

  • jys…tell us, tell us...how did it go?

  • Yeah, J! How did it go??? I totally forgot!

  • OMG…That is wonderful...looking forward to pictures...

  • I thought I would finally share some pics of our visit with Patricia Mcconnel. The furballs did GREAT with her. She loved working with them both. It turns out my little girl Topaz was a great example of dog shyness for the audience. She's just not a people person & prefers her distance.

PM was trying to prove a point that if you condition the dog to great treats & on the final attempt offer the treat but don't give it to them most dogs will come up closer to you looking for more…uhhh NOT Topaz...she was content was pretty much happy to end the session & walked away to a corner to sit peacfully.

    C3PO being a GOOD DOG!

C3PO spots another dog in the room..uh oh!

  • My shy girl….

  • Here's my pooches with their new Xmas collars from Majestic Collars!! They're just too cute..sorry I'm a proud mom :)

    Topaz sports her stuff!

    Here's my sweet boy C3PO..

This is their new favorite spot in the living room…

  • Wow! What great photos, J! I love your new place!! The "kids" seem to as well…Glad to hear all went well.

  • Oh wow - how exciting :D
Be sure to take some pictures too besides the videos - you might get some great candid shots. And you know how we're all adicted to basenji pictures. :)

  • Ok so I finally called the vet AGAIN since this was just ridiculous. I spoke to the vet directly & we went through all of the results in his bloodwork and urine analysis. Nothing came back abnormal except for PH levels. There's no protein loss that would explain the weight loss he's been experiencing. His white blood cell count came back normal which means no infection. So we're stumped…

In October when we went for his general yearly check up the lab sent back this information with his blood work that he could have Pelger Huet Anomaly. So I've been researching this to see what this is & if it could be the problem he's experiencing. It would have been nice if someone alerted me to this in OCTOBER and not January  my resluts were given by the other Vet partner in the practice. My vet was very upset about it as well.

So we don't know why he's peeing more than usual why he's lost almost 5 lbs and why he's panicking every time he goes into his crate????

  • I don't know about the weight loss, but it seems to me that if he is afraid he can't hold his pee while crated, that would give him some stress and make him not want to go into the crate.
Any way he could be kept out, maybe get some puppy pee pads and try those?
    Poor guy.
Hope the mystery of this issue is solved soon.

How long have you been in your new house? Did he crate comfortably in the new house when you first moved in? Is there any chance something unexpected happened while he was in his crate, and no one was there to see it?

Sometimes a big life change can cause all of the symptoms you are seeing…usually not all in one dog...but I suppose it is possible. Reaction to change might be exacerbated because he had a big life change as an adult going from the breeder's house to yours.

Is he eating his normal amount of food? You probably said, but I don't remember. Does his hair/eyes/elimination seem normal?

AND....why is Jorge's stocking so darn big???? Congrats on the lovely house, if I haven't said it already :)

  • @Quercus:

AND….why is Jorge's stocking so darn big????

    I noticed that too! What's up with that?:D ;)

  • How is his appetite, and food intake? There is another thread somewhere here about putting weight back on an older dog that wasn't eating. If he is not eating the normal amount, maybe you need to add really yummy stuff to get his interest. Stress surely can cause decreased appetite. Good luck to you, it is rough to get a bad diagnosis, and sometimes harder to have a problem with NO clear diagnosis.

They're so pretty and look very happy together! It really does seem easier to have two. Little Kaia is all grown up! Ava is, too… in size. She still acts like a rambunctious puppy. ;) I'm guessing Kaia, like Ava, thinks that girls are boss and rules the roost at your house. Loki doesn't seem to mind. Such a good-natured boy!

Miss Kaia has grown up to be such a beautiful girl! That black coat is so gorgeous and glossy. She and Loki make a lovely pair, and they seem so happy together! I love how they're so playful and how Kaia uses Loki for a pillow. LOL! Hmmm… maybe I should rethink getting a second one. But then Ava chews the carpet, eats the plants or pees on my bed and I stick with my singleton plan. ;)
