I finaly got Good Bye My Lady. Cheesy, but I enjoyed it none the less.
I guess an introduction of the breed at the time of mythical proportions.
I threaten my dogs all the time that if they don't behave I am going to try a dead rat around their necks!
brilliant training!
Maybe this forum should be Basenj's in books or in film as they're about three books on them, which are hard to find or out of print?

Little cheezy, but for the time it came out not bad. John Wayne did something on that movie, direction or something. The Basenji sounds they had where a little funky.:D

Someone should do a remake and with REAL Basenji Yodels. I bet it would be better than the original, unlike many remakes these days!!!

Yes it would be good for current owners, but if would turns out like 101 Dalmations with everyone adopting this mythical great dog then abandoning them, I don't think it would be a such a great idea.
I think they would need to add a little Tom Hanks' Turner & Hooch, to it for realism.

If you're willing to "pay the price," I found the book at a number of online places:

Wonder what will happen when people get beagles and discover they don't have capes and can't fly!

You're going to have the urge to tie a dead rat to your dog's collar though.
Love the dog's dubbed chimp or dolphin? sound effects.

OMG….this film was the catalyst that started my daughter on her quest for a Basenji. For years and years I had to endure the Walter Brennan character saying, 'She's got birds. SHE'S GOT BIRDS'. I think that's why we finally caved and got our first B. We never wanted to see that movie again!!!
In hind sight, the cheezy movie was MUCH easier to take than a Basenji pup.
I'm looking for the book on line---just for my collection of B. ephemera.
