Evidence that Toby needs a playmate/companion

  • Awwwwww, very cute video. :)

  • I really think Jazz needs a playmate that can keep up to him. Our old girl plays for like 10 seconds with the pup and that's it-then she goes and hides on her chair!

  • So cute! :) I love it, it reminds me of when my dad's dog Simeon wanted to play with our JRT mix Sampson. They were the same age, but Sampson was always an "old man"…

so sad Simeon didn't outlast Sampson.. :(

  • OMG, that video is SO cute! I love the "shark teeth"… so classic! It's so funny that it seems like all B's do that pawing thing to get others to play with them. And then resort to biting of the other's tail! LoL! And of course the vocalization. That's how Miles plays with Lexi. Miles is much more into playing with dogs and almost seems NOT to know how to play with toys. It's odd. Lexi's the opposite. All she wants to do is go get you a toy. And when Miles disrupts, she gives him the shark teeth and tries to run him off long enough to get me to throw the toy for her! So funny!

I definitely think they do better in pairs- that's why I rescued Miles from the pound. Lexi was really mopey and sad. I swear she was depressed!! It's much better with TWO!! (Or more!!) :)

PS- I tell Lexi the same thing: Where are those kitties?! And she runs to the window to look outside for them! I nearly fell over when I saw yours do that!!

  • That video is darling. Toby really wants to play. I guess he does need a playmate with the same energy level. I would love to have a playmate for my Hollie.

  • At the Waukesha Show this weekend - Sofia - the blind puppy had the occasion to meet up with some bigger cousins - 2 Beezers. She had a blast - - my camera is not fast enough so that you don't really see their antics - more the before and after but she sure does make friends.

I just posted a couple of pictures at the bottom of the NEWS page on my website. Too funny.

She is so beautiful. I know she would be great for Toby. Thanks for sharing.

  • Hey! I have a little basenji girl I just rescued that would love to find a boy brother!!

Although I would love to keep her, three is a bit difficult to handle in the car. 2 is perfect!

  • I love when they do the paw / poking thing.

  • I love that too, Your b's vocals are SOO interesting, like a dino growl, lol. CUTE!!

@iris-shuman said in I would like you to meet "The 'Marvel'-ous Prince T'Challah" a/k/a Prince: Iris was born in December too Not much of a surprise when you think about it ! Basenjis in the Northern Hemisphere come in to season through September/October/November and whelp their litters November/December/January. A great many litters' arrivals cause the turkey to be put back in the oven on Christmas Day while the puppies are delivered ! Decrease the size of the photo and you will be able to show Iris to all of us. And do as Tanza suggests to Daureen - get her Fanconi tested.

I LOVE how she got so dirty :D shes always such a clean dog and always so prissy about wet grass etc it was just great to see her get dirty. we try and encourage water play as much as we can living in the tropics, we are always at the beach every other weekend so she gets to see alot of water. Shes not keen on the sea but tidal pools are a go :) and now shes ok with the river too which is great. we just coaxed her in, she seemed to want to paw the water alot, like to splash us. was funny. we also have turtles in the river and you can see them pop their heads up and of course, she'd just love to swim after one of them (they can dive down so she never gets them). makes me laugh. ended up washing her in my bathroom as it started to get a little cool and the hose water was cold. needless to say my bathroom didnt look the same afterwards hahaha but now shes just had a nice hydrobath at work and she smells great :D pp.s I LURVEEE owning a B :)

@Basenjimamma: Great picture.. we just managed to train our four dogs to go to their fancy, huge dogbed right by the couch, so we could have the couch back..I miss snuggling with them, but it is nice to be able to sit.. Once we were thinking about this huge dogbed for our 4 but then we realized this dogbed probably would be used by us instead of B' (typically):D.

Thanks to everyone for their opinions. everyone here at work decided that they liked the second one, however everyone is distracted by my striped gloves. They also think that Elsie looks huge in her sweatshirt. I havn't decided what I am going to do yet.. I think I will try shooting again and see what those pictures bring. This is why I started taking them early. It is tough getting a picture of Oakie with her eyes open. We make fun that she is like forest gump. I will post the new pictures after I take them… thanks again. Lynne
