  • It's a bit difficult to translate everything what you all write about your basenji's, but I'm to curious so I'll read post by post.. :D

I really love to read about all of them because here in Holland there are not so many Basenji's.
On the shows, there are usually not more then 12 basenji's, so I think after a while my Englisch is very good, thanks to you all!! ;)

    Now about our Basenji's:

Saturday we picked up Chafuko, the littel Brindle monster…
When we got home, our cat Spaik did'nt seem to hate him so much.. haha with Buana he sat a couple of days under a closet!
Buana is very in love, it's a boy again but that does'nt matter..
They play, and howl against each other!
We don't think it would go so well!!!

Both are sleeping now, what do you want after hours playing...

I shall place some nice pictures from the two buddy's

Ow, when I'm offline for a while, then we may stay in Belgium or Germany with the ship. There we don't have www.

  • Glad that Chafuko and Buana are getting along well.
Stay in touch and let us know what kind of mischief your ship-living dogs do.

  • It's good to hear that your boys are getting along so well. When you do have internet access then you can post more pictures and stories. I'm excited to hear about basenji's on boats.

Ladybasenji, where are you in Quebec? Montreal? We have a place in Gatineau (Aylmer sector) and one of my dogs might even be related to yours. You're experiences with your girl remind me so much of my first basenji, about 20 years ago–it gets easier, I swear! Let me know if you'd like help with Lady--they're nothing like labs and will never be "obedient" but there are tricks for training them : D

I had nose surgery a few months ago and when I got home I was worried the dogs would be so excited and jump all on me, but it was crazy how mild mannered and dare I say tame/domesticated they were. I swear they knew I was hurt and gave me a day or so of good behavior. They are truly great dogs to own!

Sounds like a heavenly environment for pups! Yeah, I don't think I'd like to have my b named after a cut of meat either  We named Fiji to sound like her previous name Weegee and she adapted easily. If we bring Peanut home he may become Pinot. Red wine, red dog, y'know ;)
  • So are these Af's different than our domestic B's?

Jayden is super gross when it comes to what he'll eat: poop, vomit, and, if he pees on the patio, he'll lick that. Honest!!! We feed him and we feed him very well! Yucccchhhhh! Pat

I live in North Carolina, right on the coast and we have hot, hot, humid summers. Sahara loves to sit on the back steps and lay in the sun, but only after I have frozen her with AC, haha! She hates the cold, when I got her it was still cool nights here and I had a time getting her potty trained b/c she just hated the cold weather. I could not find any dog sweaters to fit her, she was only 8 wks. old, the stores were out of them, so I got smart one night and made her one from the arm of one of my husbands hunting thermal underware. She was much happier then once I got it on her, she hated me putting that thing around her neck and legs. I have her sweaters now, got them 75% off this summer. She hates the rain also, but she has on great ocassion gone on her own to potty while it was downpouring, wonders of wonders, most of the time I have to put a leash on her and pull her outside when it is raining, she will go, but not unless I keep saying, "Go Potty, Sahara". She runs like a mad dog back through her doggie door. Can't wait to see what she does if we have snow this winter, should be interesting.
