I'm back!

Basenji Talk
  • sorry I went poof for about a week or so
had an issuse with my roommate
I had been planing to move out, as some of you know
and I arranged to have the big furniture moved so it would be easier
when I actually moved out, plus my mom had the room

well my friends show up with their jeep and we pack up the bed, Bindi and my cat; Duo, I wanted the animals to have a night at my mom's to see how they would do, I said this before taking them
I told her, 'I'm taking Bindi to my mom's for the night to see how she does, we're having a sleep over' and I packed up my bed

so, she flipped! she ran out of the house, not before she could list off things to tell me to her son (my coworker and other roommate) and I didn't see her again
Max, her son, walks in while we're taking the bed apart to move it, says 'we need the key back,'
I was confused and just baffled by this act, why take the key? I still live there until April… not wanting to cause a big fuss, I hand it over, trying to look like a civil person but not with out a weary look and a big drawn out 'oh kay.....' and he says, 'call us before you come over from now on'

so we unload the bed and I'm stuck at my mom's house with a dog, a cat and a bed that has been taken apart
no clothes, no food, nothing seeing as I am no long able to get into 'my house I live in'

I go over it with my mom and she says I've just been evicted and don't owe them squat and I should get all of my stuff out tomorrow and talk to them about the money they are also demanding from me

so I talk to Max the next day and I'm like 'um, so why did you kick me out last night? as you can see I'm still in my clothes from yesterday and unwashed, I only moved my bed and my animals because I wouldn't get another chance until after I moved out in April, and by the looks of it, your having a hard time dealing with Bindi, I thought it only a favor to let her stay at my mom's until I moved out'

he looked shocked, honestly shocked, like he had no clue what I was doing and with out his mom to tell him what to do, she just starred at me
'I thought you were leaving last night, we needed the key if you weren't coming back' I looked at him shocked this time and said, 'my stuff is still here....why would I leave it?' so long story short, I did move out, but only because I was kicked out too early and I would only pay for the days I lived there, which ended that day

so now I'm at mom's with a happy puppy who loves her new big yard and new big dog friends and I'm loving the free space myself, no one bothers me and I am welcome to engage in conversation and not to, if I so choose <3
I also just got the internet cables strung in my room so that took some time too

but now I'm back and we're all happy!

  • It sounds like you guys had some serious misunderstandings. Hopefully after it all blows over, you can be friends again. Sounds like a really f'ed up living situation. It's very important to pick roommates carefully. Some types of people can be your best friends until you live with them, and then you realize that they were a lot more likable when you didn't see them every day. But, at least you're out now. Welcome back.

  • I'm glad your back at your mom's-with happy dog & cat and less stress.

  • wow, what a story….glad you dont have to deal with that stress anymore....a puppy is enough!!

  • indeed, thanks everyone! I'm just so happy I can finally have Bindi time :3
she's been going outside everyday, I catch her as she looks like she's about to, she even goes to the door on her own now and whines a little <3 yay!
unlike before she's just go where ever because the other dogs did, she's got bigger dogs to play with now who are way better behaved
she's got tones of room, her own toys, and she can just chill if she wants

I'm still braking her of going on the couch, she mostly does it when I leave the room to get food or go to the bathroom, same with the bed
it's mostly my fault because I left something where she can get it or the cat jumps up to get away from her lol they are so cute together

@eeeefarm: The digital age has somewhat muddied the waters. Once upon a time you could buy a book or a DVD and when you were finished using it you could pass it on to your friends so that they could enjoy it (you still can!), and that isn't considered stealing. Make a copy for them to view, with the same exact result (they get to see the movie or read the book), and suddenly it is illegal. The law was drafted to prevent people from making numerous copies and selling them for profit, a clear infringement to copyright. For a person to make a copy for a friend to view rather than snail mailing the original seems to be in a "shades of grey" area. I'd be surprised if most on this forum haven't at some point downloaded something for personal use that would infringe copyright if the letter of the law was applied. You make a good point Shirley.. except that even 40 yrs ago you could tape or even xerox music/books to share, but it wasn't legal. The problem is that if a person LOANS you his movie, snail mail, it goes to one person only, and it goes back to the owner… you don't get to keep a copy. If you put on a server, many can copy it. Right now musicians are in terrible financial straits over people pretty much stealing their work instead of buying it. Some music programs (I am blanking on names) pay the artists a bit every time you listen to their music, thanks to advertising. That's great. But if I want to own a song on my own computer or to burn on a disk, call me a patsy-- but yes, I buy it. I believe people who create books, music, art... they have a right to get paid as much as your plumber, mechanic or grocer. I don't sneak into movie theaters either, btw, not even if I could do it and not be caught. Many digital books can be loaned, btw. I have borrowed a few and loaned many of mine through Amazon. You could, of course, just let someone borrow your e-reader or mp3 player, lol, but that's more generous than I want to be. I don't know what the solution will be years from now... I know that cable companies tried to block recording movies and that didn't go over so well. So I do agree there are certainly conflicting and gray areas. But a cavalier approach to stealing, justifying it because the owner is rich, etc... that bothers me. And it bothers me for someone to try to pretend it is legal or for educational etc. If you are going to do something, man up. :) Thanks for the calm voice. :)

I had nose surgery a few months ago and when I got home I was worried the dogs would be so excited and jump all on me, but it was crazy how mild mannered and dare I say tame/domesticated they were. I swear they knew I was hurt and gave me a day or so of good behavior. They are truly great dogs to own!

    Shaye's MomS
@Kona: Shaye's Mom - That's what I was worried about too with getting a second one, but since we got to do a trial run with Keoki I was able to calm my fears. He is so calm and trustworthy, but he is also 6 years old. Yes, I understand Keoki and Kona are doing really well - wish I'd been at West Park the day you went over - unfortunately, Shaye had been spayed the Friday before, so we missed you, and them. We have been talking with a woman who has a 7 year old Jack Russell female - of course we were going to get her dog almost a year ago, before we got Shaye, and it fell through because she changed her mind, so, who knows, but Shaye really really needs another dog, I think - older, more calm.

Oh WOW, you guys are sooooo helpful. Thanks DDS for the link, that was especially helpful. I'm just intrigued with this breed for some reason, and I'm not sure why. Reading what all of you have to say is better that the typical things that you read on the computer. They all just repeat the same thing over and over where as all of you can give me personal experiances. I know all puppies are a lot of hard work, but compared to other dog (which I see some of you have had other breeds) are they actually a lot tougher? All pups like to chew and get into trouble but are they especially hard to train. Lets say with housebreaking and such? Oh and for all of you that have cats too, do they stay out of the kitty box or are the prone to make there way there, if you catch what I'm saying. I read they they are very clean and often times will clean themselves like a cat does. Really? And they are aloof like cats? Soooo much info and I would rather hear all of this from you than get false info. HELP!!
