Who says bs can't read???

  • So I got this nifty Certified Wildlife Habitat sign for my yard. You have to meet certain criteria to qualify and I have been looking into this for years. This year was as good as any!

Hunter decided it was a GREAT idea because he LOVES wildlife!!!!!:):) There was a pesky squirrel on the back fence that goes behind my vegetable garden. Which I have fenced off so the bs don't decide to go in and dig in all that lovely, soft soil.

I thought it was soooo funny that he sat right by the new sign to make sure that pesky squirrel didn't do anything stupid, like fall off into the yard. GASP!!! (It's happened before and it's not pretty…)

    Good boy!!!!

  • Hunter is so cute "reading" your sign. His markings are excellent!

  • Is he wondering how he can contribute?!!

  • I wish he would kill the mole that is DESTROYING my yard!!!!

Bs….what are you going to do with them?????

  • LOL that picture is priceless!

Don't talk about wildlife though. In the last 2 weeks Cara has brought me a opossum and field mouse. They now have their eye on a damned woodchuck who thinks life is good under my storage unit. (The small one is on edge of hill so back raised.. we are debating trap or what to get rid of him). She also has gone nuts because we have chipmunks living in it after the repair guy didn't put the doors back on right. I couldn't fix all spring cause I worried about babies but have to get out there and do something soon.

  • Wow a possum?? Go B's!! I wish mine would just catch a mouse or two. They may in the summer when I am not at home…..but that means that they probably eat them....eeeeewww

  • You should submit that to the shelter challenge picture contest!

Brindles were very contraversial in this country when they first arrived. The Kennel Club wouldn't acknowledge the colour and it wasn't admitted into the Standard for quite a while. One brave judge gave a CC to a brindle, before it was a recognised colour. I admit I wasn't keen on it, but surprised myself in Germany when I judged their specialty, by finding brindles for many of my top winners. Heads were universally better in them and movement was (almost) back to true Basenji gait. Something rarely seen these days, anywhere. And I have judged in quite a few countries. . . I put it down to the fact that, as they were very recent imports from Africa, humans had had fewer generations to mess about with them and they were still far closer to the old fashioned Basenjis I prefer !

Not to brag (ok, maybe a little)….when we went to get professional photos done B wouldn't stop looking directly into the camera. They tried to get some natural photos but, nope, he'd immediately look back into it as soon as they were about to take it. The whole time he did that. They said they had never had that problem with dogs before and were pretty impressed by him. The problem I have is taking a photo where I can actually see his eyes and not the eye film.

@Kipawa: When watching the first video, it seemed that Loki would only go as deep as he still could have his feet on the ground. But on the second video, it does look like he is swimming with the black dog. :) He likes to stay where he can still touch the bottom, but will swim out farther sometimes if a dog he is playing with goes deeper. We also live on a small lake and though he's gone in the dog park lake without reservation for months, he's always acted like a typical B with our lake, even when chasing the ducks out of the yard. Until today. My father-in-law and husband were tossing in bread and Loki's old kibble for the ducks and fish and wouldn't ya know it? In Loki goes, chasing ducks and eating the bread and kibble! And he went out farther than he's ever gone in the dog park lake, actually swimming out, but of course the ducks were faster ;)

Yes, Bungwa will toss any of his toys into the air and catch them but definitely will not catch anything I throw. He has no competition because the others just look and say 'Boooring'!!! Interesting about your best hunters being fetchers, Quercus. I wonder if there's a reason in it or whether it's a coincidence!?

Thanks…She is a doll. She is extremely active and keeps me hoping because she does not have siblings.... I had her at the park yesterday and we ran and ran. She was so tired last night I couldn't get her out of the crate to go outside. Finally...I wore her out.
