My basenji Ty

  • So cute. Welcome!

  • Very good looking B, will be striking as an adult.

  • He is beautiful Please post more photos!

  • Way too cute to be a terrorist!:)

  • Houston

So cute..I love his precious face.

  • Very cute… Who did you get him from? Many of us are related by our Basenjis

  • Welcome and what a sweet little baby. Well as they say you have not seen anything yet. Enjoy and have fun.

  • They are all terrorists in their own sweet way - you ain't seen nuthin' yet! Have patience, you'll need it! The love will just come naturally - can't help yourself. He's darling, by the way.

  • Yes, and these basenji terrorists also 'work' at night.

Last night my husband woke me up because Kipawa had been working at a small hole in our bedsheets. Well, he made it a big hole, stuck his head through it, and then decided he didn't like his head in there. He was making a real ruckus until I got him out of the hole, which he could have actually done himself. I guess he wanted to wake up the entire place and get a little attention. :)

Now that's a funny story, but somehow we can all relate to it. Exactly why Kananga has his own "bed sheet" to sleep in at night, which he has done a nice job at altering to his likings. :D

  • Night before last hubby and I were watching TV and noticed we had not seen Shaye, who generally makes herself well known at all times. I went into the bedroom and found she had chewed a small hole in our comforter, and had white stuffing all over the bedroom and sticking up out of the hole. Standing there with a fluff of stuffing hanging off her bottom lip, her glance clearly said "What? I didn't do anything!!" Then she sat across from me on the bed while I sewed up her hole, probably figuring out if she was going to have much trouble picking it apart again! Grrrrrrrrr.

  • Gambit got some time out last night when she decided to try to chew the drywall in our hallway, no idea why, other than it was there.

  • Dexter has been chewing on a "very nice Asian blanket" that was given to me as a gift, and needless to say I was upset to see that he had made two holes in it despite me fussing him when I notice him chewing on it. However, upon examining the holes more closely, I have seen that the inner layer of the blanket appears to just be a child's quilt…that someone sewed an Asian themed layer of materiel over. It seems Dex was just trying to show me that it was a fake- an impostor! I still love the blanket though haha.

Time to start hiring Basenjis to be part of Quality Control for manufacturers!

"See, this couch isn't strong enough, he managed to dig right through the fabric!" :D

I need to buy a new couch soon. :o

Goodness, ditto on everything you have said! :) Thankfully, our comforter is dark blue paisley, so the sewing I have done blends in really well. How funny, basenjis seem to love that white stuffing. It must be a texture thing. Or just the fact that they can be such little rapscallions!

Haha! Have you ever been to an Ikea store? They have a display of a chair that is one they have been selling for over 20 years. In the display, they are pommeling the chair with some sort of heavy metal block. Maybe they can have a second display of a basenji chewing at the chair? :)

  • Actually, Ikea is my first choice for a new couch. Only because you can easily buy the replacement covers/parts ahead of time and keep them handy for "future repairs".

I thought about leather, but I fear the costs to have it repaired in the future. My B only does some "digging" where he likes to sleep.

Hi everyone, Thanks for all of your replies! Rex just had his first vet visit (first with me at least), and he was given a clean bill of health. The vet that I saw also agrees with a lot of you that he looks like a Min Pin more than a Basenji, but he is likely still mixed with something because he's a bit too big to be a pure Min Pin. I've looked at a few DNA Dog Breed tests online, and they seem to range in price and in quality. It seems like some of the cheaper (~$50) tests are fake, but they go all the way up to almost $250 for the higher quality ones. Do any of you have experience with these DNA tests / have a brand you found reputable? I'll be sure to post the results of any of the tests with this forum! Thanks again, and Rex is doing really great in his new home!! [image: 1559586518913-img_3707-resized.jpg] [image: 1559586546977-img_3720-resized.jpg] [image: 1559586568474-img_3708-resized.jpg]

@kembe You are so lucky to have such a gorgeous dog! I have had many dogs throughout my life and each lived for a long time. Having said that, the Bs are my favorite! Mine did not Yodel until a year before she died, but she did Baroo all the time. They are absolutely fascinating and worth every single second that you have one. House destruction can be managed and one must understand the concept of Separation Anxiety. That was a small challenge for me because I brought my Puppy everywhere including on the Train into NYC. She was an excellent traveler and fell asleep in her crate when we were driving. She was so well behaved she slept in my Office when I went to Court. :)

OMG soooo cute. Her colouring and face don't look like a basenji, but maybe she's mixed with something with stronger genes. Do a DNA test. That would be fun!

We got Killian from a breeder in Ohio–-Jim Edgerton. That's where he had gotten our previous male basenji. We took Logan and Jasmine to his place and looked at several 1 year olds and a puppies and Jasmine eliminated the others and we agreed with her pick.
