    Anyone else having issues logging into Yahoo Groups? It was telling me that my sign in name was not accepted? (The same name I have been using for many, many years.) Then it kept asking me to register but kept refusing my email address. I finally got it to work somehow but I don't know why it was such a pain.

    I am happy that more pups were brought back and even happier that one is a black/white. I hope we get to see more of these pups soon. :)

    I'm very excited to see the pups, and quite thrilled about a BW being selected. The distribution of colors makes sense to me, it fits into a basic population dynamic theory. Dr. Jo - if you ever need an ecologist on a trip, I'm your girl.

    Oh no, I didn't think that at all. You put a lot more depth behind my comments and thought it was very appropriate. I love evoluntionary biology/genetics but only get into it from a more casual reader perspective.

    You have real-life experience involved with this type of subject, which is why I will make a not-so-shameless plug for your seminar at the BCOA National in Manitowoc, WI this September. People can go to the Specialty site for details. :D

    Sharon, you should be able to go to the Facebook page where the pictures are, highlight the URL, copy, and then paste it here.

    If that's what you did previously (I, too, just got the sign-in page with a "wavecable" email address), then just tell us the name of the person/group where these pictures can be found and we should be able to do our own search (unless the person/group has their security set such that their name isn't searchable).

    You can either let people know the name of the person who posted the pictures so they can go to their profile (and friend them if necessary) or ask the person if they can give you a link to that particular photo album (there is a link at the very bottom of the album page which allows people who are not on Facebook to see the album) to share.

    The b/w are certainly interesting and look really cute - I know Jon saw them on a previous trip but they were very elusive. He told us that when he came to give a talk at our club show.

    You're very lucky as many of you'll, I assume, have the opportunity to see them 'in the flesh' in the future. I hope we'll see a lot more pictures.

    @KiroGurl: how much would a red boy cost from most breeders? whATS THE AVERAGE? In the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic, I'd say a safe estimate is around $1000 - $1200 for a puppy from a responsible, reputable breeder. Personally, I haven't found there to be a lot of variables with pricing when you go to a responsible breeder. Off hand, the only real difference in pricing I've seen seems to be that it does vary by region of the US - kind of like everything :D. If a breeder is pricing by colour, male vs. female, or AKC registered/not, I'd immediately look for another breeder - personally I would consider those red flags and RUN. There may be breeders that charge differently for pet vs. show, but there are plenty that don't - none that I've encountered do. A good place to start to find a responsible breeder is always the BCOA breeders directory at basenji.org. And don't forget to verify health tests on offa.org

    @Terry: Buana - have you considered collecting Chafuko and using the chilled semen AI? That way neither dog would have to undergo the stress of travel. Terry We never considered that, I will get information about that (for this time it's too late but for a next time) I'ts always good to know.

    As a newbie to the breed, I took this opportunity to try to learn more about the "Africans" :). What fantastic information it is too… I have downloaded all the information on these dogs, and I am currently in the middle of assessing these beauties myself, before I read what the 3assessors have said about them... I think I have done a pretty good job of critiquing them, I might add :D. Thank you for allowing a newbie to get such valuable info especially as it is such a huge project, and one that perhaps no other breed is able to do, (at least that I am aware of :)).

    Haha a Basenji breeder making profit that´ll be the day if one makes end´s meet(hmm is that english)one should be so lucky.I´m not a breeder but my boy has been used for stud this fall and just paying all the shows(gas,show entries etc)the extensive health testing hips,eyes,fanconi,thyroid panel including TgAA wasn´t cheap.Can assure anyone that his stud fee won´t make me rich but that´s not what i´m intrested in i´m more curious seeing what kinda puppies this combo will give and if he passes on his qualities.
