Wow another thing to boast about the Basenji, I already can't say enough to people when they ask what breed Kaiser is, people must think I'm a showoff. Jolanda and Kaiser

@Shaye's: Just give your boy his space, gently try to pick him up and quit when he resists, rub his belly any way he will let you, and eventually, he'll calm down for you probably. I would respectfully disagree with quitting when he resists…....you are then reinforcing the resistance. If you can anticipate and release before you get resistance, that would be best, but if he starts to resist best to wait a moment and release as soon as he is quiet, which tells him what behaviour will get him what he wants. Reward profusely when he doesn't resist. When you know they don't like something, look for a tiny bit of success and build on it gradually. When you do get acceptance, don't insist on maintaining the position for very long. :)

Well the clever hoomans managed to keep Vanda inside over the last 24 hours :D. Nemo, that is exactly what went through my mind, and let me tell you, it scares the $*(^ out of me :D. I think this little lady will be keeping us on our toes a lot more than Ochre and Saba do :p. We were prewarned by her breeder, so I guess I will have to do extra checks on Vanda alone… wizard, I was thinking exactly that same thought while I was typing, the stiff drink I mean ;)

@BDawg: If anyone wants to train my sled dog to do this…!! :) Miles thinks he's pulling a team when we go for a walk!! That is amazing!! Makes me want to get a clicker. Maybe you should get one of these to have the "reel fun". [image: D_gg14_Memo_1.jpg] Regards, Esther

mia is 5 months old today.. and i have classes from 8am-145pm without a break long enough to come home. plus an hour total of travel time. shes fine in her crate for 7 hours. and shes done that since we first got her when she was 8 weeks old. granted its only 2x a week. we've started leaving her out if we go to dinner or something like that.. and she doesnt potty in the house then either. she can hold it for quite awhile. but i guess every dog is different
