Fran, I know your probably doing this, but I would suggest keeping treats in your pockets, small bits of jerky, or cheese, and when folks come to admire your b, ask them if they want to "treat" him.
Good socialization for him..hands bring only good things.

Sharron, thanks for the great idea! I do bring treats in my coat pocket, but hadn't thought of giving them to people we meet to give to Kipawa.

Very interesting meeting people along our walks - it is pretty easy to tell which ones to stop and talk to. I guess that is my radar and Kipawa's radar working in conjunction with one another.

At this particular beach, there are quite a few rocks inscribed with various partial poems or eloquent thoughts. People can also pay for a bench as a tribute to a loved one. The beach has a wonderful feeling to it, a truly welcoming area for dogs and humans alike.
