• @dmey:

    Hello everyone, Ayo is doing Great ,today was our third day at the show and he has had 1 place best of breed all three days, so he is now Dominican champion, and on Thursday he won first in group, and went to the best in show competition. Friday and today he got second place in the group competition !!! There weren't any other basenjis though but all the judges have ,so far given him all the points excellent evrytime, so he has made champion, and winning the best in group, really made me feel good because there was tough competition. Here they divide the groups according to the FCI,so basenjis are not in the hound group, but in a group they call primitive breeds, together with spitz dogs and Pomeranians, which seemed really strange to me but!!! We won so….. I am not complaining!!! Tomorow is the last day and I am hoping to do a better job in the best young dog category which is the only one that I have been handling him myself and doing a terrible job at it. I can't seem to calm down, I am a mess!!I will post some pictures tomorrow!!!!

    Wow, many congrats. Ayo is handsome boy:)!

    @Kipawa:

    I've never shown a dog, but I think the more you do it the more you get into a routine. So, tomorrow you will do better! 🙂

    I don't agree, my father shows Geasy for almost 9 year and he is still nervous as hell before going to ring as well as in the ring :D. But Geasy has never felt his nervousness and they always did a great job together.
    But maybe some training could help you ;). Good luck!

  • Wow, fabulous start for you and Ayo! Congratulations!

    Can't wait to see the pictures.

  • Congrats! That is so exciting knowing that you're just a couple islands away from me doing all of this with Ayo…who you got around the same time I got Paco! 😃

  • WOHOO! That is wonderful!

  • Congratulations to you and Ayo, showing is not something i could do.

  • Thanks a lot everyone. Today was the last day, had excellent, again in the breed and second place in the group competition. Didn't win in the best young dog but I did much better, I was more relaxed and was actually able to pose ayo for a little bit, I had fun!! Hey Shannanigan, that's right we are exactly two islands away. There were a lot of competitors from Puerto Rico, a really nice Boston Terrier from PR won Best in show today and also there was a really nice Fox Terrier. There is a show in San Juan next month!! I don't think I can make it though, next year maybe!!!!!
    I will post the pics tomorrow!!!

    Congratulations to you and Ayo, showing is not something i could do.

    It's harder than I thought it would be…. I hope I will get better, but I'm afraid you just have to be a " calm assertive" type of person , which I am not!!!

  • Congratulations!

  • here are some of Ayos show pics. I have really good ones with all the medals but I need to download them. Ill post them tomorrow.
