Writing contest in Modern Dog magazine

    SO many of us have written wonderful stories about how our basenjis have impacted our lives. I received an email this morning from Modern Dog magazine that is asking for people to write a short story (800 words or less) about their dog. They are looking for how you met your dog, why your dog is special, etc. Here is the link: http://www.moderndogmagazine.com/node/26966

    I would think it so cool if the story they chose was from a basenji owner. :) Of course, we don't want to let TOO many people know how great they are!

    As far as I know (by how the rules were a few years ago) you are correct Clay. All you need to finish a dog is an ERN number. You don't even need that to show the dog…but you want to apply for it after she wins a point, or else you will lose any points accrued. Usually I wait to get an ERN until the dog wins a point....that way no money lost if I choose to not show the dog in Canada again. Canadian shows are sooo fun...and the people in the BCOC are really nice and welcoming, and the prizes are awesomely generous. I always enjoy it so much when we can make it to their National.

    @Quercus: Agreed. It isn't good form to be hovering at ring entrance with any dog, really… True. I've been at many shows when another breed is 'hogging' the entrance and the people with the breed that is 'up' cannot get through without shoving someone aside to get to the ring opening.

    Thank you everyone! Ill look at the book, try to get it. I also took a look at the site. Seems like it will help alots. Thank you ill keep that in mind. Ill have friends and family come over while im working with her and express their opinions of her. I will also keep in touch with my breeder. She doesnt do shows anymore but im sure she can offer up a little information…what is IMO? idk why but i never understood that. lol The show is actually in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It is given off the the Sioux Empire Kennel Club. Ill be working with her non stop until we go to that show. I figured well just see how she does and go from there. She may be good or she may just be pet material. Id like to try either way :)
