@JENGOSMonkey I WAS THERE FOR '89! I was a kid, but I remember the water coming out of the swimming pool in huge waves and everything falling from the shelves! I was actually born in San Jose, but moved around a lot later LOL I hear the wildfires are more of a concern for you guys now? That's scarier than quakes for me...

I cannot imagine committing to buy a puppy without seeing the animal and if possible the sire and dam. OTOH, a rescue (or adoption of an older dog) is a different thing. My last two Basenjis came to me sight unseen, and turned out to be wonderful dogs, but the breeders I got them from wanted to place their dogs in an experienced Basenji home, and I only paid the cost of getting the dogs to me. One came by air, one was personally transported to me by his breeder. If she hadn't been happy with what she found I expect she would have taken him back with her when she left. I also had to commit to return him if ever I couldn't keep him. Good breeders care about where their dogs end up.

@kembe - Very True Kembe, here is a link on looking for a responsible breeder. https://bconc.org/finding-breeders-red-flags There are many scammers out there, don't fall for one.. or a person that is not a responsible breeder.

Tom is still having problems. He has twice developed an infection in the socket where his tooth has been removed and been very poorly on both occasions. He has been prescribed a two week course of antibiotics which have helped in the fact that he appears to be his normal self, eating, drinking, happy etc. However when i checked the tooth socket i can still see what looks like infection and i am concerned that when he finishes the antibiotics the infection will take hold again. Have spoken to the vet who has told me its possible Tom will need another op to see if thay haven't removed enough necrotic bone. I have asked for a longer course of antibiotics to give it another chance, he has also suggested some mouthwash to put in his drinking water. Tom is 13 and we are trying to avoid another op, i just wondered if anyone elase had a similar experience or any suggestions. I am at my wits end to be honest and feel so disopointed for him :(:(:(
