Agree with @elbrant and I'd like to add, when you return be very matter of fact, do not make a big fuss, particularly if she is excited and effusive in her greeting to you. Sure, acknowledge her if you must but don't make any sort of big deal out of it. Go about your business, e.g. if you've been shopping, put your things away before spending any time with her. Your goal is to make your absence just part of a normal routine, nothing to be excited about. I've had two separation anxiety dogs, and you know you have won the battle when the dog just glances at you in an "oh, you're back" way and doesn't bother getting off the couch! Yes, people like it when their dog greets them and makes a big fuss, but if you feed that behaviour you give too much emphasis to your absence and that can grow into anxiety in your dog.
Baby yodels
-
We have heard a few baby yodels from Malaika and of course it's so cute.
Yesterday i was trying to sweep up in the garden and she was constantly diving for the brush.
Today she saw the brush propped up, sat near to it and yodelled
We have also heard her yodel at other Dogs and cats that are out of reach. -
Honestly, there is nothing cuter than baby yodels!! It is great that Malaika yodels.
When Liyah was a pup, if the adults wouldn't play with her, she would bring stuffed animals to her reflection in the stereo cabinet and then would dance around and yodel to her reflection to try to get her to play :D:D. Liyah is the big talker of my 3 - when she wants Brando to play, she will pet him on his head and start talking to him - very comical! :D:D Oh, and we call Brando and Liyah the lovebirds because they are so enthralled with each other!

Not having a basenji yet, I am in totaly envy - baby yodels from Malaika just must sound so cute.
-
I love it when they yodel or voice out! You just want them to do it again and again.
-
We are just starting to get some baby yodels. Usually, when we come down in the morning to let her out of her kennel or right at meal time. Too cute!
-
what an adorable story..thank you so much for sharing your joyous little girl..sure brightens my day some.
-
Yodels or baroos are their happy sound. Now that she knows she can do it she'll do it more often. Kind of takes you by surprise the first time they do it though!! Like how can that sound come out of that little critter?
