This is for any new people wondering about Basenji shedding. I'm not a professional groomer but this is what I've found. Some Basenjis have very small short hairs and others have longer thicker fur. Both shed but much less than most dogs. You still need to groom and stimulate the coat even though it's short.
For Basenjis with the very small short hairs I use a rubber curry comb like on a horse.
Curry comb. I found that a regular comb or brush didn't seem to get those little loose hairs like the one pictured.
For the thicker longer haired ones I found this to be good. It's called the Furminator.
Furminator.
This is what I brushed out of Buddy this morning who has the longer thicker fur using the furminator.
Some people use different combs/brushes so what ever works to pick up the loose hair/fur is good.
