I cannot imagine committing to buy a puppy without seeing the animal and if possible the sire and dam. OTOH, a rescue (or adoption of an older dog) is a different thing. My last two Basenjis came to me sight unseen, and turned out to be wonderful dogs, but the breeders I got them from wanted to place their dogs in an experienced Basenji home, and I only paid the cost of getting the dogs to me. One came by air, one was personally transported to me by his breeder. If she hadn't been happy with what she found I expect she would have taken him back with her when she left. I also had to commit to return him if ever I couldn't keep him. Good breeders care about where their dogs end up.

Thanks Anette, we love her, but Kahlo is truly stunning…
You don't see very many Giant Schnauzers here in the states, or should I say in Texas, before I came here in the early 90's, being born and bred in Sweden, there were lots of them..very cool breed.. -
Thank you! I love her, of course.
There are not to many Giants in norway either - they are much more populare in sweden, and I think there are a lot of very good breeders in sweden. So my next gian will come from pure working lines from sweden. Kahlo is to weak mentally to be a good working dog - so we are just goofing around and having fun. And I think she will love to have her own little basenji as her little brother.

Just out of my own complete ignorance, what are working Schnauzers used for? :o
-
In sweden they are used in police work, IPO (shutz - not completly the same - but similare program), obedience, what we call "bruks", dont really know the amerikan word for it, programs containing obedience, seach after items, tracking, searh for persons and so on. And of course rescue dogs. We have some good giants breed in norway in rescue and IPO but most of them comes from working lines from sweden or elswhere in europe. Swedish breeders are generally much more likly to test there breeding dogs and offsprings mentally to see what kind of dogs they are making (this is general for all "working" breeds in sweden compared to norwegian breeders, not just giants).
Pardon my bad english…
-
Thank you for the explanation. Your English is just fine.
-
Your welcome. And good my english is readable.
Kahlo is a great dog, don't get me wrong. She is just nok "enough" dog - she is to shy and dont like people she dosen't know, can't be left alone and stuff like that. So to try to train and push her is not right - so we just train for fun and enjoys life the way she can handle it.
