  • What kind of help was Marxpups looking for?

I found Marxpups ad on Craig's List. It reads:

Must be a only pet,not good with children or other animals would be good for retired person that could spend lots of time with her, needs fenced yard ,I hate to see her go, but she can't get along with the other animals any longer. 425 742 1520

    Location: lynnwood"

It appears this person needs help but didn't appreciate the "advice" he didn't receive.

If someone comes on here and needs help re-homing a basenji, perhaps "we", as a community, should be more supportive and not so quick to judge others. I think that trying to re-home a dog, no matter WHAT the age, is a better solution than a $.20 bullet in the brain. We are supposed to be a support forum. Perhaps this person is unaware of the health issues that can cause an older dog to become unsocial? Perhaps this person doesn't have the time, or the resources, to continue trying to make this dog better? Perhaps it's come down to, "It's me or the dog!"

We all wear different shoe sizes, and while my shoes may be covered in seaweed, yours may be full of muck, or you may be tromping in mounds of snow. 😞 We should not judge until we have walked in each other's shoes.

Kindness matters. If MarxPups happens to read this, I apologize for the not-so-warm welcome. There are many here that are willing to help you. We have a great contact on here, Sharon, who is active in the Basenji Rescue group in Seattle. Hopefully, she will see this post so we can help your dog.

PattyM you make some very good points and i agree with you, the main focus should be on helping the Dog.
My gut reaction is how could anyone give up a senior Dog but actualy we don't know the circumstances properly and we are not here to judge.

  • I wish I were as optimistic as you are Patty, but someone giving away a 12 yr old is going to do it. best I can do is let brat know.

  • Shelley, I am going with what you have said. I do not agree with giving/selling your baby but if they find they must then lets help so hopefully it will save this Basenji. We all will answer to what we do or have done or will do another time and place.

  • I spoke to this fellow last night. I believe the dog has medical issues that they have not checked out by a vet..
I am not sure what they are going to do. THEY do need to do the right thing for this b.
    Sigh.

  • Thank you, Sharon, for reaching out! 🙂 I hope this girl can enjoy her senior years.
