  • New Guinea Singing Dogs Rescue Operation - forward
Below is an e mail received from Jan Matznick with NGSD Conservation

Dear all. We have initial reports from the NGSDCS and NGSDI members we
sent to PA to help evaluate the 78 Singers found at an illegal kennel.
There are 4 litters of puppies and we will be trying to place 50 Singers
total, some of them unsocialized adults. We have a mobile veterinary van
and volunteer veterinarians to spay and neuter all that are old enough.
Mothers with young pups will be fostered until the pups are old enough to
    place.

Of course, we are in desperate need of funds to pay for veterinary
supplies, shipping crates, and transport expenses. We are a very small
group and cannot help these Singers without the assistance of an army of
concerned people. Please donate what you can, even a few dollars, to this
cause. Every penny goes directly to help these unfortunate Singers. The
donations can be made at: http://ngsdcs.blogspot.com/ We will also need
volunteers to help transport Singers when the time comes as homes will be
    all over the USA.

Please forward this message to your friends. If you might consider
adopting or fostering, please read the information at
http://newguinea-singing-dog-conservation.org/ and then contact me with
    any questions. Thank you.

  • Will share on FB too.

  • Thanks, Debra! I would have put it on FB, but didn't think of it, duh!
NGSD are barely domesticated and endangered in the wild in New Guinea - I believe the estimate is that there are barely 300 worldwide and most are in zoos. Somehow, these people got a breedable pair, and ALL of the current dogs are down from them, so they are severely inbred, which is why the Society will be spaying/neutering them.

    Thanks!

    Terry

  • Wow, just looked at the link. Apparently my info on the number of Singers was too high! I have a friend who owns one that was born at the San Diego Zoo and belongs to the Society. She forwarded me the request for help. Hard to understand how this man could have acquired 2 breeding pairs at a flea market, no less!

  • My friend belongs to the Society, not her Singer! Just reread my post and realized it sounded like the dog did, lol. He's a smart boy, but not up for signing anything legal - yet…

@CrazyBasenjiMom I live in the very Southern tip of Indiana & we get some pretty cold winters & there's a lot of humidity so it's a real "biting" cold & if the winds blowing ~ it feels like razor blades are in it!! If no one else wants the sweaters, I'd be glad to have them for my next b that I'm waiting on getting!! But if someone else lives in a colder area & wants them, they can get them! If no one else wants them, I'll be happy to have them. Before my Mother passed last yr., she'd knit up one for everyday of the week & one to wear on wash-day!! :)

Sorry, but I'd most likeley go for a beagle, that was my very first dog and he was awesome!! Got him off the street…my first 'rescue'...after that, crap, can I say this...a cat.....OUCH!!!...Yeah, I was very lucky with both my B pets, but as I get older, I'm not sure I would be able to handle a young B. However, as I look forward to retiring I'm more than happy to have multiple B's in my home. :) Older ones, like me :)

@YodelDogs: I bought a new printer recently and I'm having problems with it. It is an HP Photosmart C4680. The problem that I am having is that it keeps printing the file name on the top of the printed page. It also keeps adding page numbers. Does anyone know how I can stop it from doing these two things? I am getting seriously frustrated with this. If you open the HP Print software on the File menu look for a Properties, Options, Printer Setup, Printer or Preferences and in one of those you will most likely find the option to uncheck those options.

There is a commonly used dog in TV and commercials that is either a Rat Terrier, or a corgi/terrier/basenji/chi mix….I have seen in on law and order, and some other more recent commercials...might be that one. Or it could be a real B...I haven't seen either of the ones mentioned.
