• On Saturday I took Chance to an Agility Fun Day. We have only had 4 previous agility lessons and up until now Chance has never been allowed fully off-lead (he had been wearing a 20 foot tracking lead). Well, he did everything that was asked of him - and not asked - as one of the games was a small course where the handler was not allowed to give any verbal commands or clap hands, whistle etc. We came 3rd in the paired game and were amongst the WINNING relay team. πŸ˜ƒ

I am SOOOOOO proud of him (and me) for what we have achieved in such a short space of time. Our next lesson is on Saturday. πŸ™‚

This was a warm up game. We had to run through 3 tunnels in the correct order and back to the finish line. All games were timed.

This game was hard. There was a circle (marked by the white poles on the ground) which the handler was not allowed to step out of. There were 3 tunnels outside the circle. Needless to say I lost a few points in this game but still Chance was perfect. πŸ˜ƒ

  • Well done!!! You must be so proud! It's great to work as a team, isn't it πŸ™‚

  • What FUN!!!! Sounds like maybe you've been bitten by the agility bug. (It bit me hard years ago)

  • Well done to Chance - seems he has inherited the Antefaa agility genes!!!!

  • What fun! I'm hoping Nayru will enjoy agility or coursing.

  • Very Cool! Fun for both of you!

  • Double post. Sorry!!

  • This Saturday saw our last agility training session of the season. 😞
Chance's brains were really not where they should be this weekend (the bitches are in season!) and he really showed me up. All he was interested in was humping my arms and legs.
We did a warm up course and off he went to do his own thing! Nose on the ground and away in another world. Next we broke the course down into sections and did training on each piece of equipment. When we got to the box where he is supposed to do a 5 second Down, he wouldn't even sit!!! He just kept grabbing my arms. I very nearly gave up and remove him from training all together. 😞 At the end of the training session, one of the instructors came up to me and asked if she could have a word with me before we continued. I was sure she was going to ask me to remove Chance from class as he was being so disruptive. But instead, she asked me if the club could use a photo of Chance on their posters to advertise agility for non-collie breeds!!!!! Of course I said yes. πŸ˜ƒ
After a cup of tea we had the opportunity to do another lap of the course. I wasn't sure whether to bother with Chance but I did and thank god I did. He really redeemed himself by doing a near perfect round. He even did the box! He went through the tyre unaided for the first time too πŸ™‚
I've attached some pics that were taken on the day. During the training sessions I kept him on the lead as it was an open field with plenty of other dogs and even a huge white cat wandering around. I think I'll use the pic of him on the dog walk and have the lead photoshopped out. Some of the pics are a bit out of focus. What do you guys think?

  • Way to go Chance !!!!

Love his muscle tone by the way, really fit looking B x

  • Great pics! Chance looks really handsome! πŸ™‚

  • Thanks Scoops and Janneke. Chance is a very handsome boy. He was a little thinner than I would normally like but the bitches are in season and food is not his main priority at the moment! He has super muscle tone, I like to keep him super fit. πŸ™‚

  • I like both pics on the Dog walk.
    Well done Chance
