SF Bay Area Chihuahua over breeding

Off Topic
  • The Chihuahua has been way over bred here to meet people demands and now they don't want them finding out they're a real dog that's alive. We see this story on the news many times here. Now we have to send them out to you folks on the east coast.

  • Very sad… Hollywood has a lot to answer for .

Funny story here though... Our Australian early morning breakfast show was doing a story on the Chihuahua, (I cant remember what it was about...), and the female anouncer called them Chee hoo-a hoo-a :eek::o:o... Nothing was said, till after the next commercial break when the male presenter, (who looked like he knew she had really fluffed the pronounciation :D), came back on and apologised about the pronounciation of the breed, and it was called, Chihuahua... The naughty cameraman pans across to the female presenter, who was laughing so much, she had tears rolling down her face, and couldnt speak for about 10 minutes :D. I would love to have been in the studio when it had errupted into laughter about the way she had pronounced it :).

Sigh, I feel your pain, Megan. I have relatives I wouldn't give a stuffed animal to. Including one sister. I actually contacted all the Chow rescues in her area with a "do not adopt" letter. Yeah she takes care of them while she HAS them, but she swaps dogs like most people change underwear. I don't know where she got it.. whole family of responsible pet owner. Grandmother was not only a midwife but the person all the hunters brought orphaned (ie they accidentally shot the mom) animals to (raccoons, deer, rabbits…). LOL, you know in Japan and some other places (I think even NYC) they have "rent-a-pet" programs. That's the only pet she should have. But many people see all animals them as "just animals".. their value is food/fur/guarding and if they are feeding them, giving minimal care, wow aren't they benevolent. :(

That area is lovely. We adopted Fiji from a woman in Oxnard, and I think there may be a breeder there. We do have a big basenji community here in San Diego - 3+ hours south of where you'll be - pretty long drive but we'd love to see you! :D
