Please research the health problems in Basenjis especially Fanconi Syndrome! There is a DNA cheek swab test for it and I believe it only costs $75. If your dog has not been tested and is over two years old, she needs to be strip tested for glucose in the urine monthly until you have the DNA test done and obtain the results. Untreated Fanconi Syndrome will kill a dog! Here is a webpage that explains health problems in Basenjis: https://www.basenji.org/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=155&Itemid=292 Jennifer

Responding to JazzysMom's comment about fibrosarcomas at vaccine injection sites in dogs – I had made a post on that specific topic (along with posts on Lyme, Leptospira, Titers, Rabies, etc..) that the administrators deleted. Please PM me and I will e-mail it all to you and you are free to share it with anyone and everyone who has or loves a dog. Below is a link which will take you to the abstract from the Journal of Veterinary Medicine, Series A August 2003, vol. 50, no. 6, pp. 286-291(6) IngentaConnect Fibrosarcomas at Presumed Sites of Injection in Dogs: Characteris… Fibrosarcomas at Presumed Sites of Injection in Dogs: Characteristics and Comparison with Non-vaccination Site Fibrosarcomas and Feline Post-vaccinal Fibrosarcomas

Thank you for your reply Seko. Bandit is 11 weeks this Wednesday 6th Sept. When he turns around bearing his teeth and growling after being told off for being naughty, I point my finger at him saying a LOUD NO!! He doesn't like it, puts his ears back and looks at me. I have bought a clicker and will attempt to train him and my Lowchen "Alfie" together with liver treats. Wish me luck!! Angee
