  • When I was looking at all my dogpictures, I noticed that our Basenji's are very populair in my family..
It looks like all they are a important ingredient for party's and hollidays.
Every minute a family member is hugging, playing, kissing one of our B's…
Like to share some of them! :D

Thanks Rita Jean, Ryan is doing very well!
Today he is already 4 weeks old! wow that's going so fast!
He is healthy, happy and very in love with "his" doggies… :D

  • Thanks for the photos.
Love the one with your niece!

  • Lovely happy pics, as you say your Dogs are very much part of the family and that for me is how it should be. Sorry to hear about Kas grandmother, please pass on my condolances. Its funny how dogs and other animals can get a response from people who are hard to reach.

  • It's great when the family loves and enjoys your Bs. Thanks for sharing!

  • Lovely family pictures. I love that they are in so many pictures. We have a lot as well and wouldn't have it any other way…they are part of the family after all.

Sorry to hear about Kas grandmother, it made me smile to hear that she would perk up when the dogs visited with you...they have that "magic" touch sometimes..

Doesn't the time just fly when you haev a baby? I couldn't believe how fast they grow, wait until they start school, it is insane how fast the weeks go by..and very sad as well..they simply grow too fast.
Good to hear that all is great with Ryan and with y'all too of course.

  • Very nice pics! They really are family dogs :)

  • Thank you for sharing them!!! Wonderful pictures :)

A really nice family! (dogs AND humans)

  • Such wonderful pics, happy family.

  • Wonderful shots of your family…2 and 4 leggers included!

  • All dogs that are treated well will be good protectors. You want big dogs means like Labs, German Shepherds, Doberman Pinschers, etc. or any mixed breed dogs will do as well.

I used Wisdom Panel for my assumed Basenji mix. It showed no basenji at all. My boy is 32 lbs and short hair. His DNA says he is 25% American Eskimo 12.5% Boston Terrier 12.5% Chow Chow 12.5% German Shepherd 12.5% Miniature Schnauzer 25% Breed Group-Sporting, Herding, Hound, Terrier. Having owned basenjis all my life I would say my boy has basenji in him by his personality and behavior regardless of what his dna says!!

Fula Nzara of the Congo was sired by Fulaflyaway of the Congo and my dogs are related through him. Queen Juliana was a patron of our club - the Basenji Owners and Breeders Association. It was wonderful to see the pictures, thank you for posting them.

I leave the sledding to the family when they come to stay! You certainly all look as though you're enjoying yourselves.

Buddy is not an under cover dog he'll start at the top of the bed, get his nose just under them and push them back to the foot of the bed bunched up then lay against it.

@Lovelace: Really? What ones? I don't know of any that have all the criteria? I've done extensive research on the breeds, and i'm curious I don't recall any. I think Pat means lots of dogs have one or more of these traits. Those three things all together MAY be an indication that the dog does have some basenji in it…but not for sure. Because the dog could be a boxer/husky mix...and end up with right color/markings, pointy ears, a curly tail, and have wrinkle on the forehead (lots of dogs have wrinkles around the face). Rat terriers are notorious for looking like Basenjis...but the shape of their head is slightly different, and the breed was founded using some Basenji way back. Another thing to remember is that after several generations of mixing, all dogs tend to go back to a natural or pariah dog shape...squarish, brown, pointy ears, slightly curled tail...that is just the natural phenotype of "dog"...so a dog might end up looking Basenji-ish even if there is no actual Basenji there. I am not refering specifically to the OP...that dog does look like it might have some Basenji in it..or Rat terrier...but it is REALLY hard to say for sure. It doesn't matter really, because everyone is welcome here...Basenji, mix, B-look alike...welcome...
