Looking at doggie daycare

Planet Pooch is a great place, I know it and the people there well. They have had lots of Basenjis… one of their most famous (only because he owned by Parry Tallmadge and Ken LeMay, Ken was a partner in the opening of Planet Pooch all those years ago and who was taken from us at a much to young age)... Anyway, Jaadii was a regular at Planet Pooch....
I met Perry some years back at Fort Funston. Nice fellow too. This is good to know as I may need them. Thanks Pat!

Camp Bow Wow is a great place to bring your dogs for daycare - they get to play with other dogs all day and take a nap as well, the inside and outside play areas are always accessible to the dogs, and mine like it - they are a franchise and there are places all over. I've taken mine to the one here in Riverview, FL, and to the one in Henrietta (read Rochester) New York, and they are the same, and my dogs were very happy and tired when I picked them up.

We board Bisa at the vets' office we take her to; began going to a new one recently due to being more convenient for me and has been an excellent place for her. Now looking at doggie daycare to socialize Bisa with other dogs/people. Went to a place recently to talk to the owner of it/the kennel/grooming shop she runs but haven't heard back from her after I called the other day. Was to take Bisa next week …

I was looking into a local one that's on my route to and from work called Parc Pets (in Longwood, FL). During my lunch break I visited and found out they offer a trial day for free! I'm going to bring both my dogs next week to see how they like it. They even do a spa and play day where they enjoy the play areas during the times they aren't being groomed.

I don't care how much pampering my dog gets or whether or not TV is available - that's just icing on the cake and cash out of my wallet.
I do care about the basic TLC that is offered.
Here's a few things I looked for when checking out the doggie day cares:
1. How high are their fences and how do the dogs move from kennel to play area?
2. How large is the outside play area and are there bushes or other obstructions for the humans watching?
2. How many dogs do they let play together at one time?
3. How many humans watch over the dogs playing?
4. How do they introduce new dogs – small dog to small dog; temperment to temperment; free for all?
5. What doggie first aid training do the humans have?I visited one place that had a very very very large outdoor area and only the standard 4 foot fence. I asked what happens if a dog jumps the fence -- oh we've never had that happen (and they never had experience with basenjis either). I visited one place that had a large playroom and allowed all the dogs together at one time with only one person to watch over. I asked what happens if there's a fight -- oh I come running after them with a spray bottle of water.
Don't be fooled by appearances.
