He sleeps in the hallway.

I wonder if he is lonely and wants to be with the rest of the pack, ie you :D
Maybe if he where in the bedroom with you he would settle, i'm afraid to say my Basenji slept on the bed with us and i know this doesn't do for everyone.
The advise with a child would be to go and reassure him giving as little attention as poss and then leaving him again. -

It is breeding season, and even if you have no females the boys know it is that time of year. So it could be this behavior is related to breeding season.
Mine used to get up at 4:30am because they could hear the paper boy delivering papers at that time.

I really didn't want to bring him into the bedroom, that's 'our' space and he's not really allowed in there anyways. Plus I take up enough room on the bed, there'd be no space for him!
We live right at the end of a road and the nearest hour is about quarter mile away and we don't get anything delivered so not like he's really getting disturbed with that.
Can maybe try the light reassurance with him, see if that'll help settle him.

My grandfather use to say that a male dog could smell a female a mile to five miles away. He may have a super good nose.

Again, this is the beginning of Basenji breeding season.. and with many of the males you do not need a bitch around for them to know it is the "season"….My OJ would whine for the entire month of October

Don't tell me I might have another month and bit of this  ;)
Typical, he's been curled up snoring next to me all evening, I should try whinging at him when he's sleeping ;)
Also noticed recently that he's been more prone to accidents in the house. It started at night but now mostly seems to be during the day now. Got him checked for any infections at the vets but they couldn't find anything.

Well we got some of the DAP spray and used it on his bed and we've now had 3 nights in a row of undisturbed sleep :D
Also he slept in his crate for the first time last night, progress is good!

Thank goodness! I was starting to get murderous due to lack of sleep!

Great news to hear that DAP helped.
I have not used my Dap for that, but use it frequently when traveling with the dogs. I love that stuff. -

Glad to hear that Marley is ok - I was starting to worry!
Has the DAP helped with his 'accidents' in the house too? -

Has the DAP helped with his 'accidents' in the house too? What, worried the postman would come a-knocking with a chewed up box and a Marley :p
He doesn't seem to have had any more and I came home to only a few small shreds of wallpaper today :D
