Alex, what is the material? Those look cotton, not nylon but helps to know which. This person on Etsy has a lot of variety https://www.etsy.com/listing/108893703/paracord-leash this round one looks similar: https://www.etsy.com/listing/167269676/4-strand-round-braid-paracord-leash?ref=related-3 These fleece ones look interesting.. you can totally design your own from colors to snaps! https://www.etsy.com/listing/172328771/custom-order-fleece-braided-design-a?ref=shop_home_feat_1 I had braided cord for my horses, not dogs so no personal experience. Hopefully someone else here does.

I forgot to mention that they can also be extreme houdinis. My female has learned how to manipulate the latch on her crate so I have to use a lock and she taught herself how to open the screen door. My friend had a male that could climb an 8 foot fence and escape. Be sure to check about such things when you talk with breeders or BRAT.

Okay, that is interesting. An 'aloof' owner and 2 outgoing dogs - go figure.

REI Makes a nice pack for dogs. Indy has one but don't clip your leash to it. If you want one you can clip the leash to try a ruffwear. Additionally…watch the weight, remember that water weighs 4lbs per litre so you want to be careful giving them water. We usually have Indy carry his food, treats, a sweater or jacket, and a toy. And then we carry it when he gets tired. We also always make sure that he SEES the treats come out of the pack so he knows he is working for a reason.

@tasha: I'm fairly new to the world of basenjis. My boy is 3. So this may not mean a thing but I've never heard of 'wild basenjis'. Everything I've read and heard says that they have never been wild and have always been domestic/family/village dogs. My sister-in-law and her parents lived in Africa for quite a few years when she was growing up.(Tanzania and Kenya) They said that there were many wild, mongrel-type dogs that had basenji features in their vicinity.

Basenji seem to be the masters of the non-verbal put down. And I also agree with Basenji Boy's comment, reminds of that bumper sticker: the more I know of people, the better I like my dog. What is the correct plural of Basenji? 'Basenjis' or 'Basenji'? A Yodel of Besenjis?
