Happy to be back home

Basenji Talk
  • I had left Kananga at my sister's home Thursday evening since I was to be out of town all weekend. He had a 50lbs Border Collie mix to play with while he was there. I was a bit worried since he can be anxious at times, and being in an unfamiliar environment was going to be a test.

I went to pick him up this afternoon and he almost wanted to stay there. It sounds like he had a fun time and did not have any troubles. Except he only ate 1 meal each day. He wasn't as hungry, but I expected that prior. I brought him home, gave him a bath, and allowed him to resettle into his "home". He was happy. Perhaps he really did like having a companion around all day as I was told he had lots of fun. Another B in the future? :)

Funny enough, I left to go out to the car to get his belongings and heard him howling when I was walking back. He has never done that before. I think he was letting me know he did not want me to leave him again. :D

  • So, I am guessing that his UTI problems have cleared up?

  • Was it just to hot, or he was too busy to eat?

  • Pat, yes the UTI problems are non-existent at this point. He hasn't had an accident since starting the antibiotics.

I think he was too anxious to eat. He has done that before but considering he got at least one meal per day, that's better than I expected. He's been sleeping all evening. Enough fun for one weekend. :)

  • Do let us know how it goes for this boy. Please.

  • I am glad to hear that his UTI is gone. It might be good for dogs to be left for a few days and then come and pick them up, just like it is good for kids. It teaches young kids that mom, dad or whomever has not 'dumped" you, they will come back. I wonder if dogs would see that connection? Good news that he howled, I have yet to hear Otis, although he does have his own language going on when I vacuum clean.LOL.

Under the covers, out of the covers, under the covers, out of the covers…....My husband has 3 of us to deal with (menopause is hell:eek:)!! Try buying a body pillow. It divides the bed and lets you sleep on your side with it between your knees which realigns the lower back and pelvis. If the dog takes it over, it slides away easily as opposed to trying to move a sleeping bag of cement. I have many lower back bone spurs and a ruptured disc. My pillow works wonders. Got my last one @ Walmart for $10.00.

indeed, thanks everyone! I'm just so happy I can finally have Bindi time :3 she's been going outside everyday, I catch her as she looks like she's about to, she even goes to the door on her own now and whines a little <3 yay! unlike before she's just go where ever because the other dogs did, she's got bigger dogs to play with now who are way better behaved she's got tones of room, her own toys, and she can just chill if she wants I'm still braking her of going on the couch, she mostly does it when I leave the room to get food or go to the bathroom, same with the bed it's mostly my fault because I left something where she can get it or the cat jumps up to get away from her lol they are so cute together ~Kat
