• I love horses….... And Friesians are great! I have a friend who breeds them, he expects 4 foals this year 😃

  • Oh so pretty! I especially love Charlie. 🙂

Ok, now I have to share. lol This is my boy Shadow, he's a 23yr old Morgan, and I've had him for 8 years. His personality is very much like a Basenji!

  • Now I have to share some pics as well..!

This is me with Cheyenne. She's a four year old mare.. not mine.. but a friends. I was the first one to ride her 🙂 :

This is me and Scoob.. Also.. not mine.. but too beautiful not to share 😉

  • Sorry i hadnt replied, must have missed everyones replies!!

I love that last picture especially, what a sweet, gentle face Scoob has. I have always always picked horses based on their expressions, i dont know why!! But it has always worked out for me. If a horse didnt have a nice kind face i dont think i'd buy it lol!

Shadow looks fantastic for his age, a real credit to you Kiroja!!

I hope to breed Una in a few years to have another friesian for myself. Possibly to make them into a driving pair eventually. Charlie can be driven but his and Una's paces dont match so it wouldn't work as a pair sadly. But horse breeding is even more scary and expensive than dog breeding so that will be some time off!

  • What beautiful horses. I grew up with them but they are so expensive and time consuming.

Fresians are my all time favorite. Their disposition is the sweetest and as far as I am concerned there is no more beautiful horse breed. One day I will get one.

  • Great pics Maya and Janneke!!

I grew up on a small farm in Northern Illinois. We raised, trained, and bred Quarters and Apps (max was about 30 horses at a time). Of course, it was just a hobby farm, but we also showed pleasure, horsemanship, halter, and reining. No speed or English. Jumping scared the crap out of me!!

In my early 20's I learned how to trick ride and worked with a rodeo company , on my free weekends for extra pay, for many years (imagine that….being scared of jumping, but willing to hang upside down off your saddle by an ankle strap with your horse in a full out run:)) It was great fun!!(and some bad injuries).

I'm now over 50 years old but remember those rodeo days fondly.

I don't, however, miss the 5a.m. feeding, watering, or mucking-out of the stalls in the barn before school every day. What a pain in the a$$ that was when I was kid:D There was no such thing back then as heated barns or indoor arenas. We had to wrap the water pipes with heat tapes and hope (or pray) for water each morning, or carry it from the house if the barn was frozen.

Anyway....more pictures please. I love the post and the pics!!!

  • All of your posted beautiful photos of your horses or riding horses. I really enjoyed them.

I rode as a kid growing up at a local stable in my hometown and also showed. I miss it so much but don't have the time, location or money to own one at this time.

  • They are lovely! I always wanted a connemera… I grew up with horses, but sadly due to allergies can't ride any more. My sister is down to "only" three now! http://www.trinitybroook.com Her web site hasn't been updated in a while. She gelded her stallion "Skeeter" and still owns him, her mare "Holly" and her latest colt "Reno".

  • Connemaras are fantastic ponies, Charlie would do anything for me. But he's a cheeky little guy too! 😃

I LOVE Reno! Beautiful boy, love the blue eyes. Nice to see he'll make a good height too 🙂

  • Well, my pics are not uploaded quite yet.. but I have a Paso Fino mare I keep out by Stanford, and I had a half Arabian half Hanoverian as my jumping sport horse. 🙂 I'm a major sucker for the Arabians.. 🙂

  • @Maya:

I find that most ponies usually are "cheeky", so I'm not surprised! He's beautiful too…
Thanks for the compliment about Reno (I'll tell my sister), his is a cutie too! He's as tall as his Mom already! I'll try and post some newer photos. I love his blue eye too!

Ooooh! I can't wait for the pictures. We had a half-Arab growing up - he was a handful! Beautiful, a bit high strung, very fun to ride. But he was so sweet - he turned to "mush" when we put a child on him. He really knew…I have very fond memories of him.
