ROFL at the Red Dwarf references! I love Red Dwarf too. :)

  • @lvoss:

If you go with a vampire theme here are a few.

Dogo Habari The Lost Boy - "David"
    Dogo Habari Twilight - "Edward"
    Dogo Habari Moonlight - "Mick"
Dogo Habari Dark Shadows - "Barnabus"

I kind of like these names. I will probably have in soemthing like:
    DH Lost Boy A Bluestones
    DH Twilight A Bluestones
    DH Moonlight A Bluestones
    DH Dark Shadows A Bluestones

If they fit. I think we have about 28 letters and spaces. Good suggestions though, thanks everyone.

Maybe change it a little based on the name, like
    DH Lost Boy Of Bluestones
    DH Twilight Over Bluestones
    DH Moonlight On Bluestones
    DH Dark Shadows On Bluestones

    I also like
DH New Moon Rising Over Bluestones

    I've been mulling names over and I think I have 3-although I really like some of the other ones. I've decided on a 'black' theme;

DH Man in Black A Bluestones
DH Black Gold A Bluestones (the tri)
    DH Black Knight A Bluestones
Dh Back in Black A Bluestones

    attachment_p_96952_4_sdc11850.jpg
    attachment_p_96952_5_sdc11852.jpg

  • Why the 'A Bluestones' instead of 'at', 'over' 'of' 'by' etc Bluestones?

    Just curious.

    -Nicole

  • I'm curious why Bluestones will be in the registered names. Is Scott co-breeder on the litter?

  • I'm not sure I will put it in at all, but I'm sure Scott would like at least his with his suffix. No, he's not co-breeder at all. I'm just playing with it.

As for 'A Bluestones', 'A' does mean 'of' just a shorter way of putting it.

It could also end up being
Dogo's Man in Black. I don't necessarily think it needs my full kennel name either.

  • Gorgeous pics of the Pups and Mum, thank you

  • Arlene, I am curious why do you shorten your kennel name to Dogo instead of Habari? Dogo seems to be more commonly used in our breed, with 22 dogs other than your litter having it in their name and at least 1 born just last year. There are only 2 dogs with Habari in their names.

  • Arlene..they are absolutely darling..I love the pictures.

  • They are darling, and it is cool to see the names kicking around. I love Black Gold for the Tri so much. Thanks for the lesson on the 'A'.
I like DH rather than just Dogo's. Just my opinion.

    -Nicole

  • Good point Lisa, I just never thought of it. I will now! It does make more sense.

    Habari's Man in Black
Habari's Back in Black (I think I'll change this one to Habari's Black Bart)
    Habari's Black Gold
    Habari's Black Knight

  • I would shout ot Habari too..in the names that is..make it be seen..if you know what I mean.
    Those names sound very cool..

  • If we are voting ;), I vote for Habari too! Sounds more appropriate for an African breed :)

  • I vote for the full kennel name "Dogo Habari" :)

The pups look so cute! :)

  • It actually means 'little event' in one of the translations. If I put in Dogo Habari, it just seems too long. I'll play with it though.

  • Dogo makes me think of Dogo Argentino :)

  • @Quercus:

Dogo makes me think of Dogo Argentino :)

Me too… and I think that breeders should use their full kennel names.

Seems like the DNA sample would be easier to get too. I guess the advantage of the sperm count is that you at least know if the sire is fertile or not. Good luck, can't wait to see pictures of the pups to be.

Thanks Andrea and Robyn, That was helpful. Zoni isn't horribly mouthy but I definitely have some more work to do with her. I carry a nylabone in my pocket for the occasion.

With the last litter Milo, the sire/dog, on occasions was a little rough when playing with them but not meaning to be. He is very good with his front paws - could teach him to tie a knot if I had the patience and loves to shake hands and also likes to give things a bit of a tap at times - like the cat when it is asleep - and he can tap a little harder than he means to at times. He's a year older now so I'm hoping he'll be a little more sensitive this time with the pups. Still, I will need to keep an eye on him.
