We were scared..

 Buana, our very naughty very smart boy..
a week ago, feeding timeโฆ
They eat Carnibest, it's fresh meat.
Buana takes a bite and, runs away...
Suddenly he makes strange moves with his jaws and I don't know why but we feld something was very very wrong..(i need to say, our dogs mean so much to us, they are our everything, so much that our ship and company were named after our fisrt dog)
I hurried and went next to him, he was standing and everything was normal but he made very weird moves with his jaws. I lifted his front feet and my head next to his and in my panic attack I thougt his belly was swollen..
fortunally my education for vet-assistant, made me do some quick tests and routine checks but nothing was disabled or wrong.
Al happened in a minute and soon he stopped doing "weird" with his jaws.
Everyting was normal and I give him his food again, he eat everything and stole even some of Haileys food.
The whole day, we checked him out and even his temperature was fine...We believe, a small bone or something was stuck in his jaws and thats why he chewed/ act so weird for a few seconds.
(even in his mouth nothing wrong)But because I got so a scared feeling, we tought there was someting wrong..
I don't know why but I got a feeling i'd lose him..The hours after, Kas and me were a little sad and I even cried because I saw in my head, whats it like to lose him
Buana felt it and stayed the whole day next to me, winked his eyes (he learned it from our cat, to show he is not an dangerous dog) and behaved so very good... Just to show me, he wasn;t going anywhere...Now, a couple of days later, he uses our hearts to get more attention, more sweets, more cuddles etcetc.. smart little boy...
Really, our respect for having such a beautiful breed is again a bit stronger...

I'm glad it turned out okay and that he seems to be fine now. But I understand how scary it can become when something out of the ordinary happens - you just never know. (And they do learn fast don't they?)
-
FYI when feeding bones - I once had a springer that somehow wedged a bone cross-wise on the roof of her mouth He was doing strange things but we would open his mouth and look and didn't see anything stuck in his throat or on the side of his mouth. Took a while for us to look up and see it there.

Hey Kim.
After reading and studying "tons" of material, I came to the conclusion that, in the same way as for humans, the best possible thing to feed your animals (whether it be birds or mammals or fish orโฆ)is the food you prepare yourself. My Agapornis birds don't eat commercial bird pellets but exotic bird seeds. It's wonderful to watch them picking the seeds they love the most first and they all are in PERFECT condition ! BTW, what do you think they eat in their original habitat, Tanzania ???
I agree that maybe this way of feeding is not convenient for everyone and that one has to verify very attentively that ALL of the necessary nutrients are present. It's definitely more labour-intensive than feeding kibble or frozen meals (even raw) like Carnibest (or alike). I admit that I considered for a while feeding my little hamster commercial frozen raw. But I still don't like the idea of not knowing what my little friend is eating. Isn't it worth giving it a try ? If it appears to be too much trouble after a while you can always consider to use commercial but at least you've tried. Me too I like to know what I'm eating (and drinking...)
Glad to know everything turned out ok !! "Pamper" them:D -

I think he knows he's not going anywhere. He's too handsome.

Glad to know everything turned out ok !! "Pamper" them:DWell, I thought about it for a while!
Our first dog, (a what do they call them in English? a Irish sighthound x newfoundlander) a very big dog, eate only what we did, and became 15 years old.
But, after my study as health feeding advisor for dogs and cats, I gave raw food and carnibest, also Buana has an allergie for dry food and some (i don't know the english name) things are in things like bread.. -

After I read this, I looked his mouth.. just for sure, gladly nothing weird thereโฆ Thanks for your reaction, its a great tip for next time
