Thanks @eeeefarm, the half of the battle was in my head fighting why is he doing that.
I have been told to hold his muzzle down if he attempts to bite.
I think it's time to take hold of the reigns properly and stop thinking I am being mean!

Thanks everyone for your advice.
I know my basenji understands and he does listen to me but he has selective hearing. We are traning on it and he is getting better each day.
Okay so my pup is 9 months now and I thought we had the chewing business nipped in the bud but it turns out, yesterday he started to chew on the end of the skirting board. Please can someone advise how I can say and make him understand "don't do that" or that "it is wrong to do".
Hi Everyone,
Yes it's me again asking for advice.
I was wondering how to stimulate my little basenji's mind. He eats and sleeps and he doesn't have any interest in toys at all whatsoever, just likes his antler which he chews on.
I got him a cube buster and jigsaw toy and he does play with that during food time but after that he just looks bored to me. He yawns and then just wants to sleep. I take him for walks and let him sniff around and when we get back he just wants to laze around and doesn't want to do anything. I try and play with him in the garden and try to make it engaging but he doesn't want to know and stands there staring or walks away and sits down chilling looking at the sky.
He always looks bored to me but he doesn't have any interest to do anything at all.
Any ideas what I could do or anything you guys can recommend?
Oh and he loves the game chase but we've stopped playing because everytime we try and go and fetch him (when he is in his stubborn mood) he starts running away and thinks its a game.
Any recommendations welcomed and thanks in advance.
He is definitely not, he always winges for attention. When I go upstairs he winges and when he is bored of playing he winges.
I know he doesn't have separation anxiety as he is more than capable of staying on his own. He only does it because he wants constant attention.
Guys, how do you all deal with your basenjis winging and wining when they want to get their way?
My basenji winges when he doesn't get his own way and he will do this for an hour.
I tend to ignore him and walk away but at times I just want to yell and say be quite! The moaning really goes through me at times!
What do you guys do?

@beth314 aahh I never thought of that, now thinking of it it could be that!
@kembe which I don't mind but he likes being downstairs and we've never really had a problem until now.....so I am thinking it maybe something else?
Hi guys,
Wondering if you have any idea why my little basenji woke up in the middle of the night randomly. He is now sound asleep at my feet (it's 3am here).
He started to wimper and so I went downstairs to check and I find out he needs to go to the toilet. So I took him outside and then put him back to sleep in his crate. However he started to wimper again and so I went back downstairs with my pillow and duvet and now he is sleeping near my feet.
My basenji loves his crate and he sleeps in there, he knows that's his bed but today he randomly whimpered. He doesn't usually wake up at night and sleeps through the night.
He seems to be okay now at my feet...
@tanza thanks, yes I always play the sit, stay and down but I thought if there is anything more I could do. I know basenjis are very different to other dogs and so I thought if anyone has advice of any other brain stimulating games.
At least I know it's not me! Oh and he's a 7 months old puppy

I know I am posting a lot of question but I am just so curious!
I've noticed that my basenji groans a lot...its quite random when he does but just wondering if this meant anything or is this something common in basenjis?
Sorry for so many questions but just want to make sure I am doing the right thing!
