The hamster in the back with the white "tache de beaute" is BENDJI !!

To Buana : yes, they are from Du Vieux Bry.

We went there yesterday for the first time, with Alain. The breeders, Mr. and Ms. Cholewa-Deschamps are wonderful people who look after their dogs and the litters the way I would do myself, so we were comfortable right away upon our arrival. The pups look gorgeous (as you can see ), are all healthy, are very active at feeding time and on their ease before and after, in the warmth of the IR lamp. It was a great experience for us to see our little hamster "life". I hope we can manage to return to them in the next few weeks although it might be difficult with all the festive days to come…

  • Ooh basenji puppies - I'm melting.
By the way, do you know the breeders well - anything about their background? Cholewa is my family name and I wonder if we may be related somewhere in the background.

  • Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos

    Hello Wizard !

I'm sorry but I don't know anymore than that Ms. Cholewa is Polish or has Polish roots. If you'd like to contact her (BTW her English is very good :) ): this is the email address of their kennel :http://homeusers.brutele.be/duvieuxbry/basenji/contact.htm and you may always refer to me : Walter Watjou from Hoogstraten.
    Keep me posted please.

  • oh.. I met Alain a few times at shows, a very nice man who loves his dogs!
I could see the love for his dogs in his eyes :D

He should know me, i think.. If you tell him about the Red and white male who became best opposite sexe at show in Lommel, his Brindle female became BOB there.

don't laugh at Buana, he was so tired and didn't want to show nice.. hahaha
And with a youth tri male, he was standing again Chafuko not so long ago

Hey ! Indeed, the world is smaller than we think it is ! And the " B beasties" from Du Vieux Bry are all TOP dogs :D . And Alain is a great guy !
Originally, our family lived in Antwerp, but about 13 years ago we moved "up North" and since then we are living near the Dutch border in the beguinage of Hoogstraten. As for most of our American friends don't have an idea what a beguinage is : following this link you can find out all about it (in English). Highly recommended ;). Our house dates back to the year… 1500 !!!

Unfortunately, the only "river" that is close to where we are living, the Mark can't be navigated. But I'm sure we will meet in the near future together with Janneke.;)

    Enjoy !

  • Note : the reddish colour is due to the presence of the IR lamp. Forgot to Photoshop the last one …

    Isn't he a beauty !

    Stretching …

All … together ... now (all together now)

  • Aaaah.. soooooooo cute…

I would almost get one for my self this year!! (but I cancelled :) Maybe next year ;))

Well Janneke, I strongly advise you to go and look for yourself in Thiméon !
They are IRRESISTABLE ! And what to think about a beautiful girlie for Mirtillo ! He would LOVE her !;)
Just try it out for yourself and let Tillo choose. Here they are :

    Girlie 1

    Girlie 2

    Girlie 3

    Girlie 4

    Difficult to choose hein ?;)

  • Then I would go for…. girl 3..
But I already contacted a great breeder.. so.. Our next pup will be from one of her litters :)

  • And about them being irresistible.. Haha.. that's why I'm NOT going to look at puppies :D :D :D

  • @Janneke:

    Then I would go for…. girl 3..

I guess girlie 3 is still available …:D

I'm just kidding, you know. ;)
I'm looking forward meeting you, Tillo and maybe Kim with her babies in the near future.
But for now it's the long "WAITING"

    Greetz and for the compliments:)

I am not in your area, but ... you should know that dog training is about teaching you how to interact with your dog, as opposed to teaching your dog how to do things. Most area Kennel Clubs offer training where you are your dogs partner in the class. The things you will learn will last your lifetime. I applaud the non-punitive approach. A lot of people fly off the handle when their dog chews on the wrong thing, or doesn't quite have potty training down. One of the best things you can do is give them love when they do it right and don't react when they don't. Recognize that he's just a pup. You can trade an acceptable chew toy for your shoes, and you can avoid the problem by closing the closet door so your pup can't get to your shoes. Accidents will happen and learning to potty doesn't happen overnight. Just provide a lot of verbal love when the pup gets it right and don't react when he doesn't. Love and praise are the best tools in your training bag. Congrats on your pup. Can't wait to hear about all of your adventures!

The first time I brought Shaye to her vet, he had never seen one before - he told me he was delighted to be able to get to know another breed, and has since gone online and has talked with other vets and researched everywhere he could think of so he could find out if there were any special things to be aware of in treating her. Most vets will go out of their way to school themselves if your dog is one he/she has not treated, I think. He is now wonderful with Shaye and with Gemma too, and I'm glad I let her be the "guinea pig."
