  • Aren't they great? Good dogs AND keep our beds warm!

Here's Shango waiting to tell ME that it's bedtime :-P

  • My old guys sit in front of the bed just waiting for the covers to be lifted so they can get under… and find their spot.. and if you think you were going to take that spot... think again

  • At bedtime we all go to bed together. Little Lola is straight under the covers immediately. If you're laying on a couch or bed with no blanket, she gets almost aggressive nosing your arm & seems offended that you aren't lifting covers for her. She curls up in between my legs. Booger sits near the head of the bed by my side until everybody is settled in, then he noses for me to lift the covers. He walks underneath, and if Lola is already between my legs he gets huffy because that used to be his spot. Sometimes they can both sleep there without arguement, sometimes Lola gets pushed out to sleep curled in my arm & sometimes Booger ends up sleeping curled against my side. By morning I am always sore because when I wake up to change positions, I have to move delicately so as not to disturb Andrew or the dogs. If I get up to go to the bathroom & I'm quiet & quick, they won't even move & when I get back into bed I have to squeeze my body in and around in. But they do keep me warm ;)

  • I have to wake up to lift the covers as Rosie decides to get on top of them because she's hot, and then get under them again, because she's gotten cold. It can happen 5 - 6 times in a night!

  • EL D gets a little crazy when its time to go to bed – he doesn't like me staying up later than usual :). Then he'll push at me to let him under the covers. Then of course he hogs half the bed :D

Tosca does this every night too…in and out...in and out. And no matter what, whenever I go to the bathroom I come back and she is sitting staring at me, right in front of my pillow where I lay, no clue why she picks that exact spot EVERY time...when I am there she just lays under the covers by my legs.

  • When we would go camping in the fifth wheel the little girl who is pictured above would tell us when it was time to go to bed. She would stand at the top of the steps and stare at us. She would sleep under the pillows right between out heads. (my hubby usually got the rear end pointed in her direction.) One night we thought we lost her. I was in the kitchen and my husband was in the shower. When he came out of the shower she was gone! We hadn't turned the covers back and removed the extra pillows yet. When we did that we found her snuggled all up in a little ball under all the pillows!!

  • Mine are all snugglers and bed warmers, but Eddie is the hottest basenji I have ever known! He is the one that is in and out of the covers all night long, topper & Nicky usually settle under-cover and are set for the night. But if I get up to go to the bathroom, I am reminded of the Simon & Garfunkel song '"Cecilia…"I got up to wash my face, when I come back to bed someone's taken my place".

LOL I still remember poor Mukat, my Rottie who really ran away from puppies in all stages. she was minding her own business laying in the hall and Awen saw her. She turned around and began BACKING down the hallway, turning her head to look ocassionally. Mukat's face expressed HORROR. But what could she do with dignity? It wasn't really LOOKING at her. It wasn't REALLY doing anything threatening that would justify her fleeing. Plus, to flee she had to go PAST IT in the hallway. So Arwen kept backing. And backing. And then she got right next to her and sat on her. If only I'd had my camera. Poor Mukat. She just stayed totally still, praying it would move eventually.

Two previous males I had did that sort of thing to their stuffed toys. As soon as a new toy showed up, it would instantly be attacked and the stuffing torn out before the night was over.

Nala ate her first bed like that! We got an outdoor one and she would lay on it and not chew it, but then my brilliant husband put it inside a wicker basket - she ate the basket. Now we have an enormous bed from Costco for inside during the winter and out on the porch during the summer. We buy the beds like that at Wal-Mart for $10 so we can just toss them if she digs or chews them. So far, so good! She's awfully cute!!

Mom calls him my little shadow as he is always at my heels. If I get up to go to the bathroom, he follows me to the door and then stops. When I go to another room, even if he is sleeping in his bed or mine, he is up like a flash and right there! We have had a few bouts of separation anxiety but overall he is getting the idea that if I go out, I will come back. Mom did have a scare when I went out and forgot to close the garage door. She didn't know the door was up and opened the door to the garage to put some trash in the can. Beeji shot out of the door and headed out the garage door. Mom tried to call him back but he had taken off. She called me on my cell and was very upset. I was too but didn't let her know. I headed home and we sat on the front porch. It was about 5 minutes later and he came running up to the porch. I opened the front door and he came inside. I tried to keep it low key so he wouldn't get the idea that running would get lots of attention but it was hard not to want to grab him and never let go. I am extra careful about the garage door now. Whenever the door to the garage opens, Beeji dashes out tothe garage. I don't say much just wait a second and then he runs back in. The past couple of days, I have been using the backdoor from the garage to go out into the fenced backyard so I think he is getting it that the garage is not a way to "escape" But he still has to go check to see if the door is up or not.
