Ear licking

  • @Mia:

is it ok for Nike to lick Mia's ear? he does it probably like every second day for mayb 3-5 minutes.

Yup… pretty normal....when Mickii is mad at OJ, she "makes" him clean her ears!!!!

  • Dakota used to pin Shawnee's head down and clean her ears..:)

  • Cali cleans Kwame's ears on a regular basis and has now started to do it with Belle which is quite sweet really.

  • Jazzy has always gotten "winter ear", until THIS year. I think it has to do with the shared ear-licking.

Ears and faces are constantly being licked here. Sometimes it makes ME grimace because they seem to clean so deeply, it looks like it'd be uncomfortable. The dogs seem to enjoy it, though.

  • well that's good to know, I knew it was common I just wanted to make sure that the moisture wouldn't cause an ear infection or something

  • Yea, well I get my ears licked as well, haha!!!!:D :D :D

  • @youngandtired:

Yea, well I get my ears licked as well, haha!!!!:D :D :D

Hahaha…Yea ditto...usualy while I am still trying to sleep. :D

  • Ellie has cleaned the heck out of Taj's ears nearly every day since he came here as a pup five years ago. Sometimes he likes it, sometimes he doesn't, but Ellie is a force to be reckoned with. :D Other times, Taj will walk up to Ellie, stick his ears in her face, and cock his head ASKING her to clean them. Taj, on other hand, cleans only MY ears. It can be quite comical when Taj is cleaning my ears and Ellie is cleaning Taj's ears all at once. Marco just looks at us like we're all crazy.

  • Yup thats a basenji thing LOL I used to have to clean Reggie's ears about once a month just from the sweat and dirt build up he'd get in his floppy ears. Pigmy would clean his ears but not like a basenji lmao. Since getting Tiggy I haven't had to clean his ears once, Reggie does stop him if he gets tired of it, he'll turn his head or put a paw on Tiggy.

  • Zahra cleans Chase's ears too, it is quite comical to watch.

Stuffing something soft into it might well do the trick. Using the whole leg and foot, you could locate the stuffing in place inside the stocking by tying a knot each side of it and then using as much of the leg as you need to fix it in place around her. I was thinking more about protecting the area she is attending to. But try anything - poor wee girl !

Our Buana has the same thing, since he is a puppie. Every winter his ears get dry, and loose hair. For Buana there is no medical issue behind it but it looks like the dry air of winter gives the edges of the ears a hard time. We have tried all kind of things but nothing helps, we stopped finding what to do and let it, and in spring the ears get the hairs back.. But with Buana it does not itch.. You can try almond oil, but you have to start before they ears loose the hairs...

@tanza: IMO this is just skin pigment… if it is not bothering her... would not be worried Except >> l the surface is a bit rougher than the other parts<< … which definitely fit Arwen's condition and was not just skin pigment changes.
