My dear old girl…

I was doing some show practice with my youngsters on the weekend and Flame - the grand old matron of our kennel - didn't want to feel like she was missing out :p
So we gave her a turn of her own, and I must say she still looks and performs well for a girl who will be 11 in May 2008. :D
Over the years she produced 15 lovely pups for us and she now has descendants in most states of Australia, as well as in Finland and Norway.
Her name is Aus Ch Eilsta Qwyt Kutani (aka Flame), and below are a couple of photos we took of her on Sunday.
Gotta love this old girl :D :D

Here is an important remark… it is very important that we are all watching our B's weigh as they age... keep them fit and trim helps them to leave a long life and being fit and trim, it there is a problem.. easier to treat, IMO... and overweight dogs will have many, many problems with joints besides internal organs working harder...
Now that said, my real elders, I do try to keep a 1lb or so extra just in case... but no more then that..

She's lovely. I always get a kick out of how they don't want to be left out of the action.

I would like to thank everyone for their kind comments about my beautiful Flame. I know that she would certainly appreciate all of the attention!
I have tried very hard with all of our older dogs, to keep them in as near a show condition as possible, and we are thrilled that all of our "more mature" kids are ageing so well.

I love the less-young basenjis and Flame is certainly a lovely girl. I have an 11 year old that is still active in agility. (He's the brindle in my avater pic)

Your B Flame is still burning bright, she is beautiful. What makes her so apealing is her experience, she just looks so confident, Like as if to say, "Hey,I've Got This Stuff!" haha!!!!!
